Anyone know the best way to get an evo kit for the 458C? They were pretty expensive but hopefully the price is coming down. Any suggestions of how to get the best deals on them? Any in the second hand market? Can you only buy them through Ferrari?

I think "MSRP" for an Evo kit is around $60K. To my knowledge, you can only get them thru a Ferrari dealer, have to provide a Challenge car VIN, and they usually will only sell/ship to a Challenge team and an authorized Ferrari body shop. The price offered to Challenge entrants to convert their cars was $40K plus installation when they were launched last year.

Installation requires some welding/fab on the rear end, and quite a few parts on the front end, plus another set of stiffer front springs.

I have not seen them at all on the secondary market. I am sure you would be able to find "parts" off salvage cars - but most of the time if it's a good part, teams will keep them as spares or repair if needed.

There are some companies in UK/EMEA that make "kits" (eg. Karl Leonard here is selling a nice 458C with the ffCorse aero kit).

You might be able to source the parts from Europe.

    1) if you want a 458C evo, chances are the better way to go is to just get a used car with Evo installed

    2) given you are new to all this, do you really want or need to start with all this? and

    3) the Evo additions helps the car a lot with stability and cornering speed. IIRC our top speeds at Daytona were down 8-9mph, but lap times down a few seconds. However, the balance is even more sensitive to ride height, pitch, et al, so if you go with an Evo, make sure the car is setup properly and you are able and willing to adjust it as necessary. Speaking for myself, I am still very much on the learning curve to get the car "easy to drive"

You can buy the kit for about $38-40k plus another $4-8k installed including paint etc. talk to Onofrio and he can get it for you. But you won't get it for less than that for a factory kit so expect $50k all in

That's nuts. I guess if you want an evo kit it's best to buy a car already fitted with one. I was hoping they had come down to something slightly resembling their manufacturing costs plus a very healthy mark-up.

There's more to it than just a couple pieces. There's front springs, different front undertray? Software etc and its carbon fiber so it's actually a pretty slick piece of kit. The wing is very well made and engineered. Here's a shot of my front bumper showing the carbon. And welcome to the price of racing a Ferrari challenge car!
