Well... after driving 997's and 996 C4S I decided to stick to the 996 model (Okay... Financially and road feel was the biggest reason). I also test drove an EVO X MR and was pleasently surprised (I know.. I know.. It's weird... but I kinda liked it) I would like to know folks opinions and thoughts on the following: $45K - 2003 Carrera 4S w 35K miles (Full leather, power seats etc...) or $36K - 2008 Evo X MR (Nav, some leather) What do you think?? Thoughts.... I'm 36 Years old so you can take that into account.... This would be for some daily driving but primarily a weekend car..
Thanks for the reply.. love the look of your Porsche. Techart definately does the trick.. So... anyone who has experienced both? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That Mitsubishi is a hideous POS! At least the previous ones looked decent for a DD. Stick to the 4S.
c4s!!!!!!!!!!ALLL THE WAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Evo X by all reviews is less aggressive, and slightly slower than the more "boy-racer" Evo IX, but appeals to a larger audience. I have a 2006 Evo IX MR SE. It is a blast. Ridiculous turbo lag - below about 3,000 rpm there is nothing. But once you are on boost, it is seriously quick (0-60 is 4.4 to 4.9 depending on who you read/believe and the 1/4 is around 12 at 106mph). Torque and power out the ying-yang (and I have a stradale and 512BBi). Brakes are decent brembros with 60-0 around 110-114 feet with little to no fade after 30 minute track sessions (braking from about 140mph in 5th or 6th gear to a 3rd gear turns). The interior is not refined (read cheap), but it is a genuine Momo steering wheel, has alcantara Recaro seats with harness pass-throughs (I have Schroth rally 4 harness) and the pedals could not be better placed for heel-and-toe. It is an easy car to drive at or over the limit and makes you feel like a better driver than you are. I track mine and it does pretty well running with much more expensive machinery. Get a slightly used, unmodified Evo IX (the fastest and raciest Evo ever), save yourself a buch of cash and embarass some guys in much more pretentious machinery!!
Just a few thoughts: I'd take an Evo IX over an Evo X. But either way, here are some things to consider about the Porsche: -Higher resale value -Statistically more reliable -Better-looking -Sounds better On the other hand, the Evo is a much better value. Additionally, if you put the difference in price toward modifications, you could have a very good performer.
