    It's gorgeous.
I'm not sure that James Coburn's ownership adds a lot more value. though... ;)

Or any value. The fact that Wayne Obrey has vetted and restored the car conveys much more significant worth to me.

Nicely presented. You have to admire the marketing panache of a car dealer who provides "helicopter coordinates" in addition to road directions!

There's a comparable 275GTB/4 on Ebay now for $675K Buy It Now, current bid $400K, 4+ days left.

This brings up the question about a price premium for a "celebrity" previous owner--does it matter, or what's the dividing line?

I mean, if I were a billionaire or at least very rich, I would pay $1Mil+ for George Harrison's GTB with no qualms if all was in order, while a so-so actor like Coburn as a previous owner wouldn't budge the price for me.

I know that a distinguished competition history can affect price to the upside, but, in general, on the celebrity-owned side, is it only previous superstar ownership that will bring up the price?

Interesting question. IMO it has to be BIG celebrity and even that is much less important that comp. history.

I do own a Duesey that's "ex. Queen Marie" but for that car it probably means something.

John's phycodelic Rolls would be a similar thing.

Its all relative - I happen to be Coburn fan and he was a car guy as well - used to run with James Garner and Steve McQueen up and down Mulholland in their toys. Moot of course, as the car is not blue and I don't have a liquid half-mill just now.

Wouldn't pay the "Beatles premium" for anything except that psychedlic Roller.

    Cheers

At last year's Barrett-Jackson they sold a fake Hemi-Cuda for about $150K, I think. It was the car Don Johnson drove in some silly TV show he was in. Jackson asked him what the most valuable thing about the car was, and Johnson said "the fact that my ass has been in it." B-J being what it has become, that was enough to bring the big bucks....

recent Barrett-Jackson auction, 1.62 million for a 1953 Buick Roadmaster! (owned by Howard Hughes) Hell of a premium for a celebrity owner.

Yes, it is all in the eye of the beholder. John's Roller wouldn't be worth anything to me; I certainly wouldn't pay $250K for his 330 2+2 (that was the last asking price, I think) but maybe a 100% premium over market for that model; George's GTB: Priceless, as they say in that TV ad.

Now Eastwood's GTB -- definitely a lot more cachet there than Coburn's.

How to perfectly use and maintain a car IMO ... If I had the cash and could accept the steering wheel being on the wrong side I'd be after this car like it was the last drop of water on the planet ;)

Last owner was obviously a good 'un.

I'd subtract for a celebrity car that wasn't a museum piece. They likely didn't keep up on maintainence or drive them very much. I can't see too many rock stars worrying about belt changes....

You don't need a stack of old invoices for the car during Coburn's ownership period if you have a photo album of Wayne Obry's work. The car is now effectively better than it was when it left the factory...

Perhaps; how long ago was the restoration done? Has it just been sitting since? This particular car is not really a driver anyway so minor items like old seals and gaskets are not important. I'm not about to buy it and take it to the bowling alley anyway.

Keith Richard's Ferrari was recently on Ebay; that's the kind of car I'd avoid like the plague!

Ad says Wayne has been taking care of the car since the current owner got it. CBM in 1995 is a pretty tough award to get...
