OK for those of you that seek knowledge rather than spew sarcasm I have two lessons------------------------ first, in my attempt to sort out the sodium valve issue I was given some good advice and some not so good and after trying the magnet test I discovered that the valves must be an alloy because a weak magnet did not proof attraction but after removing the valve and using a strong pull magnet I discovered that there was indeed an attraction. I'm not from MO. but I still wasn't positive and that brings us to the second discovery after putting my glasses on. At the top of the stem is clearly stamped H81 106553!!!! I said self, it can't be that easy but sure enough when I referenced the parts manual I found the part number for the exhaust valve is 106553. OK now I can correct this issue and all the AHs out there can tell the next newbie that there is a part number on the top of the stem!! thanks to all, Tom
PS one more................. I do believe that there is an irregular seam line about an 11/4" up from the head.

Sometimes the "free" info, gained here, still must be paid for by having to endure some bothersome replies. Tiresome, I know, but there you are.
