I took this and had trouble holding onto the camera.

I was too busy trying to stick my fingers into my ears to stop the pain and cover my mouth to keep in the laughter!

Dude, thats normal . Very abrasive pads im guessing ? F40s have the same pb. Or they were giving up and need to be replaced.

The engine sound however is pitiful . Its a mustang ?

That car has been used and abused many times over. BTW, this looks like it was shot in Pebble. There's a thread about this very same car in the 360/430 section.

I'd like to know where this notion of

    squeaky brakes = bad

    came from.

Normal? So you mean that more often than not a Bugatti is going to have squeaky brakes at low speeds with proper maintenence?

I agree about the sound...it was hard to tell if it was running!

That's NOTHING! If my SLR only had brakes that quiet, I'd be ecstatic!

I'm serious, the SLR can be heard about a mile away, easily! And the Mercedes folks say it's normal!

Perhaps I should video it and put it here. Then you'd understand what squeaky really is.

I dunno about the bug , but its "normal" for an F40 . Its due to the pads that are very abrasive/abresive (sp ? ). They bite harder but they are also louder doing so.

But for the bug its prob because the pads are about to give up and are very thin .

I saw two Veyrons driving around Pebble Beach Friday with dealer tags. Good luck selling 'em with squeaky brakes!

Carbon brakes squeak, even grind - that is what you have to put up with for a car to brake to a stop from 252 mph in less than 10 seconds.

Remember this car can give a McLaren F1 a head start to 120 mph before setting off and still beat it to 200.

All GM cars in 2006 run on ceramic brake pads.

    They don't all squeak.

    Get over it.

    Noise is sound is vibration.

If the pads are vibrating against the rotors, they (a) aren't getting optimum friction contact, and (b) are pulsating against the rotor, creating the potential to make a wavy surface on the rotor and/or pad.

Best braking is a flat pad flush against a flat rotor with no vibration.

Squeak = less than optimum and potential deterioration

    Does that answer the question?
