I need some help concerning emissions testing. When I bought my 355a couple of months ago I had a complete tune up which reset my codes. When I had the tune up I had a Stage lll X-Ost put on. I was told to put some miles on the car before it would pass emissions in Connecticut. I took it to a reputable dealer who replaced the exhaust valve and said I needed more miles and drive cycles. I have gone through the 2 temp permits so I can no longer drive it and the dealer is trying to get the codes to clear. Today he said he was frustrated that it is not clearing the codes and suggests replacing catalytic converters and 2 oxygen sensors. Has anyone had this problem? The service guy did say I might consider buying the parts on my own and he would install them. He said he is only able to purchase Ferrari parts and feels bad for me.

I don't know what they tested it with, but Miller Motor Cars is one of the biggest dealers on the east coast so I know they have all of the tools. I sent an email asking them anyways. I'll know more tomorrow.

I did some searching for cats and also wonder the difference between Fabspeed and Hyperflow, just in case....

I just received this message from the dealer:

The codes that will not clear are consistently… “worn cats” and “aged oxygen sensors”.

Is your 355 a 5.2 Motronic or 2.7 Motronic model? If it is a 5.2 and you decide to change the O2 sensors first, the part numbers on the Bosch site are incorrect in some cases. For Motronic 5.2 cars, you need Bosch 15730 in the pre-cat locations and Bosch 15738 in the post-cat locations. See my thread at http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=201140

Get Hyperflows, the factory cats are outrageously expensive.

I just got Hyperflows from Ricambi. I was told OEM cats were $8,540. I will order the Bosch sensors using the updated part numbers. Tom, thanks for the heads up on that.

Please take pictures of the distal end of your cats, and post them. I am curious as to the condition of the internal cores, and if they are loose in the housing. (common problem)
