I have a problem with my valve not opening. I have a 99 uk f1 spider. I have disconnected the vacuum out pipe from the solenoid and connected it to the bean can. i started the car and the valve opened. I tested the soleniod and that opens. i have check the voltage at the pins to the soleniod and i have 6v. If i check between + and chasis i get 12v. so i connected in a long wire and took a drive, if i put this to the chassis i heard the valve open and exhaust note change. so the problem is the soleniod not getting the signal from the ecu. but i dont know where pin 64 (apparently the signal to the soleniod is) any help would be grateful
clean solenoid electrical connection and connect hose where it should be and try again.dounds like a ground issue.
Thanks however if it was the connection at the soleniod the earth I have spliced in would not open the valve. It seems to be further back. Are there any more joins in the cable from the ecu?
As in the other thread, make absolutely sure you're in the right gear and throttle input. I noticed I had to go WOT near redline to get vacuum to register coming from the solenoid in 2nd gear, and it must be enough vacuum 7+ hg.
Get a capristo bypass valve and never worry about it again. Easy to install and fails in the open position.
OK, if you are sure that the problem is electrical. Then, 1. Pin 64 of the ECU module controls the bypass valve 2. It goes to a connector on the left hand side of the engine compartment right above the TCU module. I am not sure what pin number that is. You would have to ohm it out from the ECU connector. 3. From that connector, it goes to the vacuum port controlling the bypass valve, right in front of the bumper, behind the right hand side wheel. If you get 12V at pin 64, and 6V at the control port, then something is shorting out the signal from the ECU to the control port. Check the funny connector above the TCU module. Check for ground at the connector, and check to continuity to the control port. That is all I can offer from the keyboard.
