I've gathered that the stock exhaust on the 360 is a timebomb, something about catastrophic engine failure from ingestion of fragments from the precats??? Got my attention. I'm shopping for an aftermarket exhaust anyway, but not sure I want to spring for it right now. I posted this question in another thread and would really like to know, is this particular defect a time thing or a mileage thing? I'm assuming it's more a matter of somewhere between 30-40k miles it becomes a problem, but does age factor into it at all? My 2002 360 has just 5k miles on it. I'm not the least bit worried right now, but don't like getting bit in the @ss for not asking questions.

A lot of folks do this without spending much money.

Rather than buy polished aftermarket manifolds with very suspect dyno claims, they just bang out the pre-cats from the manifolds and drive happy.

You aré talking about the stock manifold which have a pre cat converter? The rest of the stock exhaust is ok. If you are worry about this you should get a set of after market headers.

Good recommendation. If you're near Gaithersburg, they are a fantastic choice.

Thanks. Someone else turned me on to competizone. I'm still vascilating over how much and what to do right now. Gonna look at some numbers next week. I may still just do everything at once, charge it up and pay for it later like a good American. Looks like the kinetix package, tubi, fabspeed headers, unless fabspeed decides to make me a deal, otherwise Competizone will get the labor.

    Bob,
I think you should think twice on the tubi. That exhaust have a lot of resonance specially with high flow cats. The perfect system should be one with valves like capristo. Fabspeed unit look great too.
    Good luck!

You mean you just remove the stock manifolds, have the pre-cats gutted and then reinstall? Any estimates of how many hours labor this takes, or in the alternative, est. of how much it should cost? While they are out, anything else that should be done to the stockers, like re-weld, etc.?
