Exhaust Hose Setup

Working on a front engine car, the exhaust is less of a problem than our mid/rear setups where we're dancing in exhaust as we set timing, tweak carbs, diagnose a buzz etc.

Anybody look into this? There are setups out there (Crushproof Inc, Goodyear and must be some others) that cost near a grand. The materials for that money look first rate, but unless you run a dyno - - - - -
