I need some pointers on removing and replacing the muffler and exhaust pipes for the 360 - am I right to assume that it can be done without removing the rear bumper?

Maybe but bumper off is easy and the only way to go after this.

You can remove the muffler from the CS by removing the latch mechanism , nevertheless it is an easier task by removing the bumper, grill and latch mechanism as you will need a little bit of wiggle room to slide the muffler off the cats and access the hanger brackets.

Pretty sure the best way to go about it is removing the bumper. You maybe able to get the tips off first with the bumper on and then go about somehow of removing the rest of the exhaust system. I don't think taking the bumper off is supposed to be that hard. They recommend you remove the bumper to clean a filter in your gearbox fluid. So you could probably do that while having the bumper off for the exhaust.

I replaced the muffler and tips on my 360 without removing the rear bumper. The rear end of the car has to be raised. Remove the rear tires and the rear inner linings. Remove the tips first, which is easy. You then have to remove the four nuts on each side of the car that secures the muffler to the exhaust. Next and the most difficult part of the process is the removal of the four nuts and bolts that secures the muffler to the rear of the car. There is a bow shaped brace that can be seen as you look down into the car from the rear. These nuts and bolts have to be removed before you can remove the muffler. You can check the difficulty of this before you start. If you feel that you can remove these nuts with the bumper in place, the balance of the job is rather simple. Replacment is going to be easy because almost all aftermarket mufflers and exhaust are smaller than the originals.
