Hey all.. I will be getting my car in like 4 days... its painfull.. but I have to be patient. So... now shopping for exhausts... I heard Tubi.. some say Borla?? (I have borla's on my Corvette Z06, sounds bad ass)... also, what is the situation with the catalytic converters, ... delete them all together? thanks for any tips... also, if anyone has vidoes of their 512TR with exhaust... it would be nice to see them ciao
MannyGMT2, At the moment the most impressive sounding exhaust system for the 512TR is Fuchs. To hear a sound sample of it in action log onto WWW.FUCHS-ESD.COM click on 'Ferrari' and scroll down to find a 512TR clip with this system on. Problem is it's pretty expensive just like all the other systems available on the market. I am based in the UK and am in the process of starting my own supercar exhaust company called 'WildBoar Exhaust Systems' using only the finest 304 stainless steel available. I am also in the middle of constructing a website to advertise my brand. The first sports exhaust I have had patented for my company is for the Ferrari 512TR (funnily enough). It is pictured below. The retail price of this system is $1886 US DOLLARS (£1000 UK POUNDS) but to the first buyer of this model I will massively reduce the price by approximately 40% to $1153 US DOLLARS (£611 UK POUNDS). This exhaust is a simple straight through design and because there is no muffler present it has absolutely no airflow restrictions what so ever, and therefore will give you more of a BHP increase than a Tubi, Fuchs or any other comparable brand. All for a fraction of their price (A Tubi costs twice as much). Also it is incredibly lighter than anything else available for the 512TR. As for the loudness level it is no louder than a DECATTED TUBI for the Lamborghini Gallardo (Go to WWW.SCUDERIASYSTEMS.COM to hear this system for the Lambo in action to get an idea). Finally my exhaust works best with the catalytic converters. IT WILL SOUND AWESOME OR YOUR MONEY BACK!!!!! Any interested parties for this offer contact me at [edited] Image Unavailable, Please Login
i like the capristo over the tubi. but best to get some sound clips by doing a search on this site. john
For Cat-back exhaust kits, I think you are limited to either Tubi or Capristo at this time. Borla does not have a kit for the Testarossa series, you can however, have one custom made by using Borla parts.
There are numerous threads on this topic for the TR. I don't think there is a true concensus. When I got my TR many folks seemed to be very high on Tubi. I had one put on my car and I have to say that I not that impressed. It was a bit of an improvement, but not worth the $$$ IMHO. I have since heard a 512TR with a decatted Tubi which sounded great. My recomendation for you would be to get your car and enjoy it. Find some other TRs with different aftermarket systems and see which you like. If I were to get a TR again, I would probably consider a Capristo and decat. My 2 cents. Steve
I have posted this clip of my 512tr so many times that I need to start paying Duane Great Video Duane!!! My 512tr is the 3rd car in the video arriving with Capristo level 2 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99972&highlight=**********
Run down to pep boys and tell them you want your TR to sound nice. Let them pull it into the bay and hook it up. It may take a while, so you might want to go to a book store while they're working on it.
I just had a pipe shop bend a set for less than 500 bucks. You can do the exact same thing as that set of basic straight pipes above with very simple equipment and skill. If your really hung up on a brand name, then buy what matches your red Puma's. If you want a low restriction, lightweight system, build it yourself...
I just had X-OST put on my 86TR (along with HyperFlow Cats) and it sounds GREAT! ! ! ! Daniel is a true pleasure to deal with... HIGHLY RECOMMEND !
My 1989 TR has the cats removed. I still do not like the sound. The ultimate "look at me car" has to have the right sound. I want the ultimate 12 cylinder song of the sirens too. That straight pipe deal looks like it may be the ticket.
Hello all, The gentleman I bought my car from had a Tubi installed and then promptly took it off asap and put a Cprito on it. He said the Capristo made music and had a better quality of loudness. My car is a Euro model so it does not have 4 cats but only 2. My dealer says not to decat it because the engine needs some back pressure. All I know is throttle response is spot on and the sound is amazing. My 2 cents gents........
I suggest you drop a PM to Melvoc, he has links to loads of Testa videos describing the different exhausts and their sounds. One in particular sounds the business. Popsenbangentuben - I want one! HTH P
My TR with Fuchs Exhaust and OEM cats -> [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI0JWdfLIMA[/ame] Within the next weeks, i´ll install Fuchs decat-pipes plus in-welded HJS 100 cpi cats. Cheers, Sebastian
After lots of comparisons (Tubi, Capristo and some others) for me it is only the FUCHS ! Lots of comrades change over now and here is one video of that new exhaust system on a Testarossa ! Enjoy, turn UP the speakers ! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6SjQm8ItwM[/ame]
For the sound, quality and price, get a Bell. I have one on my BB512i and the techs at FoA told me it is the best sounding Boxer exhaust they had ever heard. I paid around $2,000 USD and it took about 4 weeks to get from the time I placed the order. http://www.bell-silencer.co.uk/exhausts.html
I went against the grain and got the Stebro set up.. LEts just say that every Testarossa owner that has heard my car wishes theirs sounded like mine.. Stebro is so difficult to deal with and I hear nightmare stories as well. If you go the Stebro route really proceed with caution. R
how about kreisseig, i have it on my euro tr, if u like f1 hi pitch shriek at high rpm this has got to be it, sorry i havent done any sound clips of my car but youtube has quite a few ,and they do 512 tr as well. pricey tho.
I went with Nouvalari. Not as loud as Fuchs and others, but very melodious! It reminded me right away of the Pagani Zonda. If like me you're not into the very loud exhausts, but still think a Ferrari should sound like a Ferrari, Nouvalari is an excellent option! I'm very happy with mine. You can find a sound clip of my car (a blue TR) on YouTube.
