Is anyone familiar with a company that produces aluminum or carbon fiber exhaust tip surrounds that protect the tip cutouts of the 355 bumper? I know I've seen these somewhere and for the life of me can't find them again. If I remember correctly they were offered in both aluminum or carbon fiber and attached to the bumper via 3M double stick tape. I'd guess it was more than likely a japanese company. I'll try to locate a picture for anyone who may not know what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance...

Thanks, would you happen to know their Ebay username? I've done a couple searches and haven't found anything.

We make a lot of carbon fiber parts, and I'm familiar with these, but I've always wondered why anyone would want them. Am I missing soomething? Please enlighten me - does the exhaust discolor the paint or something? We could do them if there was a good reason for it.

I think the company is Garapan. Don't expect too much - if the exhaust surrounds are like the engine bay panels of theirs that we bought they're probably fiberglass with a carbon veneer, and rather crudely done. O.K. from a distance, but for the money you might as well get the real thing.

I believe the bumper surrounds are more for asthetics and add an extra little something to rear of the 355. As far as I know, discoloring or burning of the bumper paint has never been an issue for this car. In my personal opinion, I think the polished aluminum surrounds look far better than the carbon pieces. Their just an extra piece that I believe looks good if the car is set-up in a track or challenge form. Adds another hint of the "race-look".

Ya right they do look good. Asking the question as to why anyone would want them is a little pointless. Why would anybody want any carbon fiber little bits on there road ferrari. Its certainly not for weight saving, not with radios, carpets and a big lard ass driver in the car.
No people have Carbon parts becourse they look so good to some people.

I have seen them on some 355 race cars on Japan sites, I would assume they serve a purpose for racing, no doubt to protect the body work from discoloration or cracking of the paint. The paint cracks are an issue, you see this sometimes around the license plate area or exhaust cutouts. My guess is it was functional on the race cars. I have never seen them in CF but must agree the brushed aluminum pieces do look very cool and if you are going for that Challenge look on a street 355, they would be a nice addition. I will have to try to find some photos, I know I saw some 355s on a Japanese site that was featuring some JGTC cars.

OK, I hear you on the aluminum ones. I think the reason carbon fiber is popular on the interiors is because the factory did such a bad job on most late model production ferraris. We and a few others have offered an attractive alternative.

I am only hoping to find the brushed aluminum, not a big fan of CF but thanks for the info.
