hi guys , I have a 2011 California, took my pipe off the exhaust a couple of weeks ago to keep the valves open , I blanked them off both ends , lately a couple of times when parked at traffic lights on tick over it cuts out

I wish I could provide some insight. I've been considering doing the same but may hold off until someone weighs in. Hopefully someone who has done this mod will reply.

Are you 100% sure the vacuum hose is airtight where you plugged it? Unmetered air getting into the intake system can play havoc with the fuelling and can cause idling problems.

Agree. I only used the caps on the nipple coming off the valve. I used a small bolt and a small clamp on the hose itself to ensure an airtight seal. I then zip tied the hose up and out of the way. I have never had an issue.

i have taken the hose off and put those caps over the pipe itself , it is a very tight fit i had to heat the cap up the get it over the pipe even then it was very hard to push it on

You’re probably right and it’s probably sealed. But you’re getting good advice — vacuum lines get plugged not capped, always. This will eliminate this potential cause for your idle problem. (As will reconnecting the line to the exhaust valve as a test, I say at the risk of sounding like captain obvious!)

Update , i have got some new hose today which is a slightly tighter fit , plugged the one end with a round plug and put a clip on then tightened it , and then connected the other end to the vacuum pipe also with a clip , the sound is noticeably different , thank you
