is it possible to open the exhaust at 3500 or 3700 RPM in manual mode ,and not at 3200? it gets quite noisy around town to try to stick to a lower gear and constantly hearing it go on and off ...

    2018 / 488 ,stock exhaust

With all due respect, my 2cents:
If a 488 (already turbo muffled) is too loud for you, you bought the wrong car.

No..absolutely not. My 488 is so quiet to me and I unplugged the vacuum line that opens and closes the exhaust valve. I hated the valve closed sound and hated the opening and closing all the time.

Honestly, trade your 488 in for a F8..it’s dead quiet.

If you unplug the vacuum line ..valves will be ope from 0 to 8000 RPM .....

But let me ask you something ........ why you don't keep the rpm below 3500 ...... when in the city hardly (unless wanted) I go above especially in D ..and i have a pista that is louder then a 488 " normal "

i don't mind, but when i have my little lady in the car,it's " cant stand that noise" and i hate driving in auto,if you get me..3500 would do me a wondor for noise shifting

    Good thing you don't have a 458 then!! :)
I hear others saying get a F8, but maybe you don't want one or don't have the means to buy one! Therefore....
I hear you on the noise, I leave my house sometimes for car club events on Sun mornings around 7am, so I actually used to put her on wet till out of my blocks. Since I've had a Capristo valve controller (which you should by), I have 100% control of what the exhaust does, whether I choose open valves or closed. ;)

Have you heard and driven the 296? It’s volume is as loud or even louder than the 488. That V6 can scream.
To get to the exhaust valves Jack the rear up and drop the rear diffuser and you’ll see them on the exhaust pipes after the cats. Pull the rubber vacuum lines off and plug them with a screw or golf tee, zip tie the screw-golf tee and zip tie the little hose up so it doesn’t hang. No more valves opening and closing..just strait through exhaust basically.

I believe none of the valve controllers will override and close an open valve
The controllers will open a closed valve, but not the other way around

Where am I miss understanding? His previous post he said his 488 is too loud…I suggested a F8. Then he posted he has a 296 on order that will be “quiet comfort “ The 296 I’ve heard has a louder exhaust than the 488.

pulling the vac lines will make his exhaust seem louder at low rpm
Exactly the opposite of what we wants

mmmh no , 488 is louder then 296 .... especially at lower RPM (btw he can drive electric mode ;) )...........296 over 3700 till to limit inside the car is close to the 488 ....... outside is less noisy .

Correction to myself, The Capristo unit I have, comes standard w/ 2 pre-programmed buttons, always open or normal mode. Normal defaults to the setting chosen, being wet, sport, race, etc.
However, there are 2 additional buttons, that are for custom programming. That is where I understand you can over-ride the system and keep them closed all the time. However, best you confirm that w/ Capristo or the likes.....
I didn't take it that far, because I have no interest in 100% full closure.

In his post he said his 488 gets noisy that’s why I said get a F8…then he asked about pulling exhaust valves because he doesn’t like the off on sound so I explained that…odd yeah I know…then he said he’s getting a 296 to be comfort quiet. The 296 I heard is as loud or louder than a stock 488 and definitely louder than a F8.

What he needs is a controller that allows him to keep the valves closed, not open them all the time. He wants them to open at 3700 rpm instead of 3200. So, he in theory needs this one, but note the warning not to use “always closed” mode with turbo cars.
