interesting yellow gallardo... are the lambo "shields" on the front fenders a factory option or a aftermarket addition?

Lambo doesn't offer the shields. We have to buy our own through the parts department. Also, they really don't match on many Lambo colors like Verde Ithica Green or an Arancio Orange Lambo!

Having worked in Rockford off and on for the past few years, I will say you may have missed the best part of the Machine Shed....

they serve beer in the morning!

nothing better after a night shift than biscuits and gravy and a tall cool beer!

(well, maybe driving a Lambo there would be better.....)

    Mike,

If I divulged the answer to your question, my original statement would appear to be hypocritical!

LOL!!!! Seeing that there are quite a few FCA/FOC members that drive with us, I can attest to the fact that FCA has had 1 drive to Lake Geneva and 1 track event. Low-key is surely the right word for that.

In all fairness, that is one track event more than FOC had. People don't seem to realize how expensive it is to get insurance for drives and track events. And if you have bad weather that money is lost entirely, no rain checks.

And if you look at the recent ruling in California about the Fontana crash (where waivers were signed and insurance bought) you might understand why people aren't jumping at the chance of organizing these: http://www.sportscarmarket.com/content/carrera Call me a wuss, but based on that ruling I decided never to organize any track event. And I'm also thinking twice now about participating in one (note that the involved Ferrari driver has to pay about 90k).

That said, Carla's Lambo club is clearly leading with drive events. More power to her.

I understand your hesitation regarding track events, Andreas.
I don't think too many people are clamoring for a track event, maybe I am wrong. Having done a few, I feel the 308 is NOT a good track car. Sure, it is fun to push it in a controlled environment. But if you wreck it, it is yours to pay for! Read your insurance policy one of these days. Get in a wreck in the general vicinity of a track, and the insurance company will NOT pay. Track insurance can be had, but it is very expensive and usually for catastrophic events (deductables of 6-8K).

My only point is that there has, in my opinion, been hardly any drives. You would think in an area with such a compressed driving season (weather), that there would be quite a few. Anyone could organize one, just does not seem to happen much.

More power to the Lambo folks! They deserve the saying "we drive!".

Given the poor A/C in many of the cars, the time for drives is the spring and the fall. Spring is often busy with other events such as tech session and the first concours etc. Also consider, that liability insurance needs to be bought and gotten first. That prevents any spontaneous drive from happening (at least on the club level). To process the paperwork takes about a month time. And if the weather is iffy a month later, you won't get a refund.

I doubt that most people realize that the club buys an insurance policy for each one of our driving events. For example, we bought a policy for the drive to Rodney's in August. That cost the club almost $200.00!

So far, we have not been charging registration fees to attend these events, but it might be something to look into in the future.

Obviously, with the cost involved, we can't afford to organize weekly, or even biweekly driving events.

Skip, for someone that hasn't been to any event in several years including Rodney's, why is it that you must always chime in with negativity and try to stir up the kettle all the time. We are all car enthusiasts that are trying to take advantage of enjoying our cars any chance we get. Can we just leave it at that.......

Carla, where is the "negativity" in what I wrote, and how is my statement trying "to stir up the kettle"?? I was reinforcing Andreas' statement; did you read it?

Although it has nothing to do with anything, I have attended some events. I was at the one at the restaurant in Des Plaines, remember? I've been at a few others that you weren't at, such as the VA Hospital which I feel is very worthwhile....I don't recall ever seeing you there.

At any rate, whether I attend all events or no events, it shouldn't be of concern to you, unless you're concerned about my well-being . In case you aren't aware of it, over the past couple of years I've had some very serious health issues and surgeries, from which I'm still in a recuperative state. For this reason, I have not attended as many events as I would like to. Also, I'm a member of more than 1 club, and I couldn't possibly attend all events, even if my health wasn't an issue.

[QUOTE+ spike308; by the way.... congrats. you guys seem to drive a whole heck of a lot more than us lousy Ferrari guys... QUOTE]

This is what I am referring to. This isn't a competition between clubs, it's about car enthusiasts that want to do things with their cars. Every time I post something, on various threads, you have got something negative to say. Your comment "no they don't" referring to the amount of drives LCA has done is negative! For the record, our group has done 16 events since June. Most of these events/drives included several FOC and FCA members. Please chill out a little. Don't spoil this for everyone. I try to invite and include friends that I have made when I had my Ferrari and was a member of both clubs. I am trying to make the LCA Chicago chapter a Car enthusiast's club for exotic car owners fun for everyone. I am trying to do a good thing here. Sorry to hear about your health issues Skip.

How was what I said negative; didn't you see the :D in that post? Do you know what tongue-in-cheek means?

Carla, you're starting to annoy me. You're relatively new to this exotic car scene, at least in this arena.

It seems it's just the opposite from what you say; you take task with everything I say. I've responded politely to your PMs, though many times you were way off base!

Mind you, I've owned exclusive cars for over 40 years, and have belonged to car clubs for nearly as long. Also, I've known many of the members of the FCA, FOC, LCA, RROC, SCCA, etc., etc. long before you were even a figment of anyones imagination. Yet, in some PMs you've chided me about things of which you know nothing.

I've always been courteous in my replies to you, but now your rancor has riled me. If you wish to continue your 'PRIMA DONNA' like
machinations towards me, I suggest you take it off line.

By the way, do you take out insurance for your drives; that's what started you on this diatribe. If not, I suggest you do, I'm sure Dave Miller can handle it for you.
