I understand that this question may seem foolish considering this is a Ferrari site. But I signed up for a Groupon for this event where you can take a few laps around the track in one of the following 4 cars:

    Ferrari F430
    Lamborghini Gallardo
    Audi R8
    Mercedes SLS AMG

Having such a difficult time deciding because I have never driven any sort of exotic car. Would appreciate some opinions from people who have more experience than I do. Would love to drive them all but you can only choose one.

    Thanks.

if youre new to exotics, choose either the Ferrari or the Lambo.

They are all extraordinary cars that are capable of scaring you!

But when you are telling the stories to your mates at the bar later, the store will start with:

When I was driving the Ferrari or When I drove the Lamborghini.....

soccer moms can start stories with "When I drove the Audi".

And at some point when you're in the car, remember to take some time to look and listen. You will be doing it in an amazing car!

The Audi will require a 2 sentence explanation for your bragging rights. Although a very neat car!

    The Lambo.

It has the most exotic feel.

I did a similar event although on public roads. We had Gallardo, 430, Vette, 911, Bentley and Maser.

My heart was for the 430 but the feel in the Lambo was much more exciting because of the "figher cockpit" seating position.

The 911 surprised me and really opened my mind towards Porsche. It was a lot better than I thought it would be.
The Maser was boring. A woman's car to go shopping.
The Bentley was for old stiffs. Hated it.
And the Vette was a pile of plastic.

    Where is this at?

My vote is for the F430 having had seat time with all of them with the exception of the R8. Lambo is a close second.

    :)

    Bitte schoen. :)

Seriously, these exotic car experiences are not just great fun, they're also a very affordable way to find out what you really like. Beyond the hype of the press or of chat sites. :)

It doesn't take a whole lot for me to get turned on/off by a car. These events are sufficient for me to get new ideas/interests or kill off some.

As someone who's owned both an F430 and an R8 (V10), I'd say definitely the 430. The high revving V8 with its high pitched wail is integral to the experience. Rear-wheel drive handling on the Ferrari feels lighter and more precise than the admittedly more confidence inspiring AWD on the Lamo and Audi. The two generation old A6 switchgear in the Gallardo makes the cockpit dull; at least the R8 has upgraded/modernized controls.

It depends which gallardo it is, but my vote is the 430. If it's one of the newest g's - I would switch to that.

    From Wikipedia:
    Caimans

In Central and South America, the alligator family is represented by five species of the genus Caiman, which differs from the alligator by the absence of a bony septum between the nostrils, and the ventral armour is composed of overlapping bony scutes, each of which is formed of two parts united by a suture.

I bumped into a friend of mine the other day, who asked me exactly the same question: Turns out he is going to the same event. I recommended the Lambo to him. He'll either pick that or the Ferrari.

In case you see him, say hello to Gus (tall, heavy guy with a beard).

I think you made a good choice with the 430.

For a first exotic, I'd go with a Ferrari. It just "is" what one thinks of (at least myself).

Once you've had the first taste, then you can start nailing it down to the others.
