Guys, One thing that I have noticed we are missinng in Houston is a good, and I mean GOOD detailing shop in the Houston area, sure we have a lot of "car wash's" but how many of you would trust something other than your BMW to thier care? I have had my cars done in Houston and not only do I cringe when I walk away but it seems you can pay $125 and walk away feeling like the only thing you have gained is a mediocre job with a lot of armorall to hide the stuff they didnt actually want to clean. I am talking about a place that woould have a sperate area and seperate "Expert Trained Staff" not just labeled expert but actually trained to handle our cars? I am considering a venture into this type of operation but I am curious as to how many exotic owners like yourselves would actually use them or so you typically do your own? If you had an option of a REAL detail with top quality products would it interest you?
Either I have asked a question that is not acceptable on this site or I have my answer, I see that several people have viewed but nobody will comment. Does this mean you guys would preffer to do your own regular cleaning and detailing or does this mean you already have a place you trust in the Houston area? If you already have a place you use who is it, I would like to use them?
I have noticed the same thing. I know I'm a bit late on this thread but it is true. I mobile detail now but I was talking to my girlfriend about opening up a true detail shop/boutique where it would get done right, unlike most car washes that don't know what they are doing. Maybe later on when I have way more money. My dream place would cost a freakin fortune.
maybe it is out of my own laziness that i haven't found one, but i have often wondered if one existed. i would frequent it less than most, but i would take my cars there.
Well I'll let you know when I get mine open LOL! we might be in cars that fly by that time but we'll see.
Jay Could you get the small haze/scratches in a 996 hood from a bra that got rained on? I delivered a 996 to my father in Houston and put my bra on it for the drive down to Houston from Dallas. Wouldn't you know it rained on the way down there so when I took the bra off on arrival, it had the dreaded haze/small scratches. Not but 36hrs before I had Brian with DetailWerkz in Dallas do a $500 detail job on the car so it should have several coats of Zaino on there if that matters. The car is inside the loop in the River Oaks area
You are correct, there are no shops in Dallas or Houston that do outstanding detail work compared to someone who's a sole proprietor of a detail business. You have to know who the true pro's are that put there name and reputation on the car. I would never trust another to do work on a clients car, no matter how meticulous they are even if I trained them myself. Too many claimed "quality" and "X # of years experience" hack shops out there, which is why I would never open a shop either. Josh
My CEO turned me on to Drivers Source detailing.. they did his SL55 and my 348.. they did a great job. i think they do a lot of high end cars there
If it doesn't work out with MobileJay, shoot me a PM, I know a Detailer in Houston who does great work I would recommend or I could even make the drive. I have regular clients in Houston I visit every other month or so. Josh
Are they familiar with older (pre-360) Ferraris? After many years of obsessive compulsive disorder, I finally own an old imperfect car and don't care enough to spend 5 hours on a weekend to clean it. I would love to find a high end detailer to visit ever few weeks, but I'm terrified someone will apply vinylex or armorall to my vents and stickify them.
Everyone I know on the northside uses Dr Detail http://www.drdetail.net/index.html he has done my cars for 8 years when I need a detail...If I just need a quick wash I will use Mister Carwash, Dr Gleem, or whoever is nearest to me at that time.
