More like an ****** way to do a job. Sitting around hassling people.

But stories of people using exotics to traffic drugs are funny. Not only is an exotic very conspicuous, but the limited cargo space isn't efficient.

The man is doing his job to the best of his ability, using technology to the best of its ability. Nothing wrong with that.

I know I very often think posted speed limits are far too low for me - and I'm sure most folks here do as well. However, for the majority of drivers on the road, those limits are there for a reason. The average driver in the average car can become a real menace to themselves and others when they go over. By the same token, an experienced driver in a high performing car becomes unsafe when placed on a public road with a whole bunch of those average drivers.

Know your limits and the car's limits. Know the rules of the road and the consequences for gettng caught breaking them. Then get a detector and drive as fast as you feel safe doing. Just know that if an 'average driver' changes lanes in front of you and you plow right through them at 150 or so... In the eyes of the law, its your fault.

hello every body this is my 1st post i think . so hello. just want to say i have family on both sides of the law. and most of my family live in south FL boca, miami, west palm beach. anybody that wants to move large amounts of contraband from point A to point B would not use stealth sports cars. there is to much of a risk involved with high speed driving. think more like delivery trucks like new papers, laundry, meat, over night shipping trucks. and if all else fails theres all ways good old gray hound. from what i know gray hound moves for drugs than Walgreen. lol as for the midnight runners yes there are a lot of them in S,FL but they do it for fun. and i will bet you that when they do the run nobody caries any drugs on them.

"Iron ball" paint. There is still one little problem even if he could reduce his radar signature to speed guns. Radar waves still pass through the windshield and items such as seats, people, metal items will bounce back waves to the gun. He probably should have gone all out and gold tinted his windshield like Lexus does to their SUV(same tech in the F-117).
    Interesting story indeed!

I heard the same myth some time ago...I think it originated in the 80s...

Of course the story down here is that the guy was running from Houston to New Orleans in a Countach via I-10...

    Hilarious thread.

The version I first heard of this myth was a lawyer with night-vision goggles in a black 850i in the Boston area. No dope, just adrenalin.

As the second link to snopes pointed out, NVGs are a diaster once an oncomming car with headlights approaches.

This pretty much ruins all versions of the myth. Any versions without NVGs (moonlight desert, etc,) are just self-ruining if you've ever tried it (don't!). But thanks to the power of teh intarweb these myths flourish like never before.

As for the "it's true I heard it from a cop!!!" post... next time you see him at the bar: buy him a drink, slap him on the back, and say "Ha! you really had me going with that one!"

    no offence...

But why is that if I'm driving my Ferrari or Lamborghini, the cop always has to follow me, looking back and forth, back and forth to his computer.....after awhile, you do get tired of it.

Cops are just like regular people...good bad & ugly. With other " bad & ugly "people, I can blow them off...don't have to deal with them.....BUT, with a rude "attitude" cop, I have to sit there and take it.( no, didn't commit any infraction ) I don't have to take attitude from anyone else....yet I have to put up with him/her.

Perhaps this is where some of the resentment comes in......

Please don't forget, on a Ferrari / Lamborghini forum, most of us are business owners or sucessful in our endeavors. We didn't get there by taking anything from anyone....it's just hard to put that aside and be all " yes sir, no sir....three bags full " ( especially if you get pulled over for the hell of it....no infraction )

Ok, I have to chip in my story... (may have posted this before in another thread)

I live in Colorado and my family is from Tennessee, so driving home its a straight shot on I-70, St. Louis to Denver.

3 years ago, I was coming home to Denver and it was late at night, probably around 1am or so when I was close to the Kansas/Colorado border. Something is coming up fast in my rear view mirror.

2 cars and one semi, normal cars, one was a beemer 3 series and I cant remember but I think the other was a mustang. I'm sitting on cruise at around 80 in my daily driver and these 3 pass me at least 20mph over me, if not more.

There is a weigh station at the border. I pass it as the truck is getting weighed, the leading/trailing cars are off to the sides of the road, inconspicously waiting.

A few minutes later, zoom, there all 3 of them go.

We've had a lot of human trafficing come thru denver, and being that I-70 is a major east/west route, it could have been drugs, but it was definately something. And being that the semi was hauling a$$, it couldnt have weighed much. I'm not sure what was in the truck, but it definately was being "protected/escorted" by the 2 cars.

Anyway, I'm sure if it does happen, it doesnt happen with lambos or ferraris.

BTW, I thought all the way home that I should have called the state police. It wouldnt have been as suspiscious to me, except BOTH the cars waited for the semi at the weigh station. They were definately "protecting thier load".

  22. This probably wasn't it, but you might have seen a truck being used for anti terroist stuff. The US has three or four tractor trailers that are a science fair on board. They roam about US, the equipment inside the trailer can scan the contents with detail of another tractor trailer moving down the freeway.

Doesn't make sense at all. Common sense tells you it's a myth.

If you're going to be smuggling drugs, you're going to want to carry decent to large quantaties of product at once. You couldn't put a whole lot of anything in a Diablo.

Very odd. Definitely something going on.

The escorts had to know that if the truck driver gets busted at the weigh station the load is immediately written off.

Common sense says the escorts just keep on driving, slowly, while the truck gets weighed but "someone" must've given orders to not let the rig out of their sight. So they had to risk the incredibly suspicious side-of-the-road waiting, either hoping that they were not noticed or...

I wonder if the guy running the scales that night went home with a little something extra in his pocket?

    Just a thought.

The exotic car could be like a scout - making sure the highway is clear ahead of the car carrying the "goods."

It would be wiser as many have said, to carry whatever in a Buick, or something large enough to actually carry the amount of drugs that would warrant risking it all.
