Has anyone had any experience with Exoticar model company in term of pricing and quality of their products, customer service, etc??

I went to their web and they seem to have pretty good F-car collections.

Exoticar is my local hobby store in Avon, MA. I deal with them on a regular basis. However, I've never needed to order anything throught their website.

I have heard some stories on several different forums about how bad their customer service is. People have order items which they don't have in stock and they seem to get the run-around or a different item or color.

Since I don't have to deal with them over the Internet or phone, I personally don't have any comlaints about them and I love visiting their showroom.

If you want me to check on anything that they have in stock just ask. :)

Exoticar are fine if you can walk into their shop. Ordering over the phone is a bit of a gamble: If you're looking for an older model, no problem. If you're looking for one that just came out, be patient as it might be on back order. And they do a bad checking on their back order stuff, sometimes they simply forget your order after a few months on back order.

There was a thread on Exoticar on the old Fchat site. You might want to try a search there.

I've done a lot of business with them and they do publish things as they are announced sometimes ahead of availability. It has been very rare that I did not eventually receive all items ordered.

I drove one poor girl crazy trying to get a Lambo hat once. They showed six different ones, but none were on hand. She could only tell that though, by trying to enter the order into the system they have!

    That took awhile!!!!

I have dealt with Exoticar via the Internet and had a fairly positive experience.

I actually got the model sooner than I thought. I believe there was a wait. I was supposed to receive it in 2 weeks and I got it in 8 days.

It had just come out too. Though I suspect demand was low. It was nothing special except to me.

I have never really had to deal with customer service. I do not think that I ever got a tracking number from them, though.

I want to avoid a repeat of the thread on the old board which did nothing but dissolve into a flame war that drew Exoticar themsleves into it.

Every company I have dealt with has made a mistake or gotten behind or misplaced a model or order. But, I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars with Exoticar, and have recieved everything that I ordered, had one mistake which was resolved, and never had poor customer service. They are a good company, like Speedgear, Replicarz and others (including our sponsors). They are also human, and with the thousands of orders they process, mistakes are made, just like everyone else.

Read the old thread if you want, but certainly use them if they have what you want at the price you want.

    Ramon,
They replied on the old board to each issue individually. I don't believe they moved to the new board. I don't recall how well the answers were recieved, but they did answer as best they could. There were also some threads started by a former employee who was dissatisfied with many things.

But, again, I have spent a lot with them and never been dissapointed.

Will never ever order from them again. My mother-in-law order me a couple of cars for X-mas this past year (nothing big 355 spider, 550 and a murci)

Well she waited and was told she would have everything for x-mas well no go everything came except the murci. She called and asked and they said it should be in by the end of the week. So she figured that it could be a b-day present (early Feb) while long story short it never came and all they would do was feed her a line of BS. NEVER EVER do business with those clowns atleast don't order with them. If you have a store close by and you can actually hold on to what you want and walk out that day with it then that might be a different story.

It is interesting that Pat and I are complete opposites on opinion. But that's what business is all about. Shelbee, good luck finding the cars you need. Lots of choices. And as happy as I am with them, I have never seen an item that they had exclusively.

Currently I'm battling with a dealer in Germany. This battle has been going on for many months already and it is very frustrating if you see your good $$$ going down the drain for nothing.

I don't know what is more painfull, the loss of money or not being able to have that one car in your collection.

    :(

    Not excellent.
I oredred 3 items back in january. A Gallardo, the little cell phone holder seat and a Lambo belt.
It took three damn months for the Gallardo and seat to get to me and I still have not gotten the belt.
    Won't order again.

They were just trying to replicate the buyer's experience in real life.

They could really use help with customer service. They have one guy there that is a complete jerk. I believe he is the wholesale manager or something but he also answers the phones. I cannot stand him. He always has a negative connotation to EVERYTHING!

They also do give you a run around when you order something that is not in stock, especially if on the Internet. I have had SEVERAL instances where I ordered things off their site and they do not ship it because it is out of stock BUT THEY NEVER TOLD ME! I had to call them days later to find out. Quite often I needed this for a specific date and wrote that in the notes section but still nothing! They are good when they want to be and horrible when they want to be. Not the best way to run a business, that practically dominates the model car scene. I think they know how powerful they are and just let the company ride since they are already in that position.

I order from there pretty regularly. The only reason I do is because of their selection, not because of there service. I have never had any major complaints though.
