Looks like I'm going to take the plunge

Tired of hearing my left foot complain that it is left out of the driving experience

Exoticcars in Mjlford NJ was the suggestion and spoke with them and I'm impressed.

Last chance to convince me not to ditch the F1

    Thanks for the suggestions !!

Wait a minute….. you have to get my permission to name yourself SuperAmerica….I have had mine since 2008!!! Lol….just kidding.

You and I need to talk about the conversion. I am in the process with my guy in Naples. He has serviced all of my cars for 20+ years. He repaired other
manual conversions from other shops. We have not done anything other than determine what parts are available for the work.

I put him in contact with @brogenville in the UK that has a kit for the required equipment to make the conversion. Let’s talk about the process we are considering.

I've finally gotten a chance to do some more driving on my conversion (that Wil did) so I can weigh in. I have a 458 from new, which set the bar in my mind for what paddle-shifting should be. I got the 575 thinking I would convert it, but I did drive it with the F1 and found the shifting a bit slow for my liking (and compared to the 458). Now the stick shift doesn't make the shifting faster of course, but it makes me a more active part of the driving experience which I enjoy. The love of hearing the click-clack is real. Wil and team did an awesome job. The MSRP was $35k to do the conversion, but they did find a few things to fix/repair along the way and I ended up right around $40k. It took just under 3 months to do.

They are not using OEM parts They fabricate cnc billet parts including the turret. Not cast parts that are NLA or old and functionally obsolete

They currently have a source to get a full set of used OEM alot less than the $ 45K that is offered on Ebay

Mike and Wil told me that would be $$ ill spent I agree

I have had problems with the F1 nearly from the beginning when I bought the car in 2011 some 13 years ago

When I started the car after a long ride, I would often get a dash instead of a number on the digital gear indicator

The car would limp and leave me somewhat stranded for a while until it decided to work

    Also the clutch is 62%

No brainer for me with the right shop

Exoticcars is beloved and is 2 hours from my home

The car and my interest will be a reborn with an extra pedal

It's slow, and a long throw, and it doesn't love 2nd gear when cold, but there is really no feeling in the world like the gated shifter on my 575, being intimately involved in changing gears on that V12 as you power through corners. I even think about it during the rest of the week when I am travelling elsewhere. Clack down into second. haunches slightly down powering through the corner (just a bit, even with the FHP), onto the clutch, nose sinks a tad, wham clack into third and away we fly...it's why I bought the machine. Enjoy!

Just Do It! My car was Wil's #1 conversion back in 2016. A boring ride made fantastic. After hearing a lot of crap from so many smart asses on FC, now everyone understands what a phenomenal improvement 3 pedals brings to the 575.

Car should be going to Exoticcars this week They said it should take 2-3 weeks

Yesterday, I was in Wide World Ferrari in Spring Valley NY There was a TDF SA in for a major. (mine is TDF too)

The holy grail -- manual They told me the guy has 3 Superamericas and an assortment of other Ferraris

"It's slow, and a long throw, and it doesn't love 2nd gear when cold," Hey, at his stage of my life -- I'm slow, can't throw long and not loving 2nd when the tranny is cold, I don't need no stinking 2nd gear. I still have 5 other gears plus reverse

Metal clacking metal Clackity clack -- don't talk back

    Let the fun begin !!

It’s hard for me to understand why anyone would want and prefer the f1. It just isn’t that good. Sure, it got better with new models, but the 360/430/575 just sucked imho. Now the 430 you could prog in the scud settings and it made it worlds better. But still, it’s just not the same experience as click click click with my right hand and finessing the left pedal.

I have extensive time at big willow (willow springs) with a HGTC 575m f1. Back to back with a manual 550. I know it’s hard for you to believe, but many people feel the same as me. I get that you like your f1, I just don’t understand why. lol. And the market seems to agree, but I digress. No amount of updates would ever make me elect an f1 (or automatic trans in any car). It’s just a very different experience.

some of us just don’t like paddles. It’s not that they aren’t better on paper, I know they are. But the experience is not the same. It’s just not. The 550/575 is not a fast car. It’s not a race car. I don’t care if it costs me .5 seconds per shift - there is nothing that replaces the experience and satisfaction of clicking through the gears in a gated car, especially a v12. I feel the same with the Murcie.

if I had a scud or 16m I would convert it too. I don’t like paddles in sports cars. It’s counter-intuitive to me. I hate that people get wrapped up in stats and specs and miss the idea of driving and the visceral experience. But that is fine, people have different tastes and that’s cool. Again, I can accept it. Just will never understand why anyone prefers it.

In 2005 the F1 was the newest and greatest but I'm surprised how few purests went with a three pedal car

As an aside, the SA and the 612 had a F1a -- faster shifts etc

In a month or so, mine will be a faster paper weight
