the other thread may be difficult to eek out solid information from, so i have created this thread, and the following page which can always be accessed from this first post:

i will keep that page updated with all the basic details as things evolve... (don't have time to do anything proper so excuse the frontpagearama).

    DATES!

do we need a poll? so far we're going with: Friday 5th August to Monday 8th August.

is there anyone who's biggest issue is these dates?

from what i know, goober may have a problem (date-related :D ), CWL (with the Elise) has other committments, John (GTIII) doesn't know if he can get out of werk, and Al (GT40) is checking....

    please post your availability....

I'm available between July 24 and end of August.

I'm happy with the proposed dates (not surprisingly since I proposed them :D) but cool to change if needed.

When you get the quote PM me. Maybe we can get a cheaper deal for two since I will be coming from Brisbane as well. I checked out the road and we would have to go through Mt Isa if we drove and I don't think I want to put another 6,000 kms on the clock that quick.

Also need to check insurance tomorrow.

mark , will do. I think the tpt company will want to stay in the centre for the 4 or so days as they will have nothing to come back with unless they go on to perth but very unlikely. means we will be up for extra $$$ for their company.

And I reiterate again - a Ferrari CANNOT presently traverse the Mt Isa to Camooweal section of road.

I used TNT race transporter to move the murcie from Adelaide to Alice. If you can get together and link each city you could hire the whole transporter and share the costs.

I suggest that every body get together and hire the one truck. Porsche often bring all their new models to the centre for dealer drives. It makes sense and means all cars travel in good company. I can help with locked garage storage for 3 cars if required.

As I have already said in the other thread the suggested times are pretty good for me also. It looks like interest is growing in this idea, should be alot of fun if it all comes together. :)

I noticed you have listed AHG as 'likely' on your page, has he said something more since yesterday?

scud, if you are bringing both the CS and GT2 who will drive them along with yourself?

    Ah ok, thanks Marquis. :D

I think with some gentle persuasion we can get him to become a 'likely' participant. ;)

Make sure your exotic is reliable as no mobile phones out here and doubtful towing. No spare tyres are likely to be available unless your drive a Murcie ( I have a full set of wheels for that very reason.) Bear in mind what happened to the Cannonball Run F40. If you are coming make sure you realise just how fast 320km/hr is. I have never driven over this speed as the NT roads will launch your car into the air with the slightest crest of the road. Be warned that if you own serious peformance it can bite with deadly force. I live in the Territory because I love speed yet I know my limits. If you drive in a capital city this is a whole new set of skills to the race track or freeway.

I dont need a fool to die up here and force speed limits to be placed on my neighbourhood.

no need to worry about me. I will be fiting new rubber to the CS as the track set are a bit tired. Both cars will get a good looking over before hopping on the truck . I won't be acting like a d**khead . I want to catch the plane home with great memories. Ash a small suggestion . If we want to get serious with a magazine . perhaps we drop the crap like brisvegas , rock on etc. I am the first to take the blame . Not having a go , but we need to show we are serious about pushing these cars and ourselves to serious but safe and controlled conditions as can be reasonably expected.

not a definite, just an idea. i'd love to see it, and he sounds like the sorta bloke who'd go for it. i sent him an email a few days back and just noticed he's logged into fchat for the first time in a week or so this morning, so we might hear something...

what about the guy with the McLaren F1... would he go for it? anybody know how to contact him?

An F40 and a McLaren F1 would just take this event too a new level, better not get to excited yet though. ;)

Any update on whether the guy with the Lambo Miura (or Lusso) is going to make it?
