I found this on the Dream Racing site... 1.1 mile 9 turn infield road course at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I'm assuming the other guys use the same course.

It's an oval and I believe it's 1.2 miles w 9-11 'turns' except the last 3 are set up so close to each other in a zig zag pattern that the instructor was having me literally drive straight threw them.

Actually exotics has done well for themselves so they've moved out of Las Vegas speedway across the street into a parking lot with tents and their own self built oval course.

I've read here of folks having this experience. I've been several times and had the opposite. Their coaches are usually pushing me harder and I'm shifting at redline and I did get to take the 458 out in race. It takes a discussion with one of he coordinators/supervisors about one's experience and some input from your coach. Luck of the draw wrt your instructor likely matters too...

Also, I have found it to be very helpful in my car targeting and buying decision process. I have ruled out a Lamborghini SL because of a drive there due to the numb plowing AWD. I had test driven one in the streets and it took this high speed test to know I would not like it. Similarly I found the 458 a bit too isolated and not much fun in sport. Next trip I asked for race mode and it was a whole nuther thing. Those experiences served to educate me about whether or not I want a 458. Again, same with the R8, was too boring for me.

I find this place very helpful in my education and testing of these cars for future ownership decisions. I have also been impressed with their operation each time in terms of people and ensuing customers leave happy. For example, I've gotten free extra laps for me and for my brother when we have gone. Anyways, I posted here to let readers know your experience is not everyone's. There are several threads on f-chat about ER with firsthand reports both positive and negative.

Their competition is in their old place (track at least). I did the 430GT there recently and it was a blast...my first time driving a car with slicks. The coach had me hammering it (iirc his quote to me was "wait for it to scream before shifting" when he noticed I wasn't redlining it). This experience taught me that I don't want want a full track car with cage and slicks et al for my very occasional DE days at the track.

I think it is pretty much a given going into the situation that they aren't going to let you put it into race mode. Also, I didn't expect to be able to run the RPMS high on upshift or by downshifting when available.

You have to understand that it is in their best interest to keep these cars running and not have unscheduled maintenance costs or problems.

For what I paid, I had a blast. Although I didn't get to do race mode or the other things you mentioned, I still got to abuse a 458 that wasn't mine for under $1,000.00.
