My 1986 328 GTS has been running perfectly without any heating issues. While getting the clutch cable replaced, mechanic notieced a little leak around expansion tank, pressure test confirmed.
I have searched F Chat and cannot find any for less than $400. Considering having one fabricated for less than $100. Any recommendations?

Man, it's just a steel tank can the one you have be repaired at a radiator shop?

Down in Australia section there is a repro in stainless, is that the one you've found?

    Try TRutlands or Ricambi America??

No kidding, just repair and repaint. No need to replace.

I would only recommend that you keep the car as original as possible for resale value. So replace with oem or repair your exisiting one. Unless your fabricator can make one that looks original.

I bought one and am having mine replaced in the next couple of weeks. They're powdercoated steel, to handle the heat and pressure, and after 20 years, well... I asked my tech about refinishing, because the powdercoating had started to flake off. But the real issue isn't cosmetic.

Look at the top of yours. If it is bowed out on top (i.e., bulging up), it's already starting to deform. Not repairable.

$408. Pay to play, I guess. And I'd agree with Dave - a 328 should have a Ferrari expansion tank. I doubt you'd save much money now with a knock-off, and it would turn a lot of buyers off at resale time.

Probably true. $400 for a metal box. Even the guy at Rutlands was apologetic.
