I removed my expansion tank to repair a split in the seam. I am in the process of attaching it to the mounting tabs and am not able to get it to tighten down as firmly as I think it should be. It seems that the gromett with the metal inner sleeve is the limiting factor. Is there any chance someone can post a close up of this area or possibly give their tank a wiggle and let me know what kind of play you get? Thanks in advance, ~Tom~
Just checked my tank and it is mounted pretty firm but not solid. The inner sleeve acts as a stop to provide the correct crush on the grommets.
These are anti vibration mountings and should therefore have some movement to allow the tank to move without shaking itself to bits. The steel collar is to stop the bolt compressing the rubber mounts too much. Not totally convinced there is any real need for these as the pipes to the ET are flexible anyway.
I'm looking for the correct mounts for the expansion tank. It appears there was a request for a photo posted, which would be very helpful, but none offered up yet. Can someone post a close up photo of these mounts? The Spare Parts Catalog provides no part nos for all the parts that make up the mount.
I don't have the correct parts yet but I do know that correct original is a rubber grommet that fits inside the mounting holes on the tabs of coolant bottle. The parts book shows it as 2 pieces but a 1 piece part would be visually identical and much more readily available. I just have not looked at the dimensions yet and sourced it out. What is certain is that this Dinoparts piece is totally wrong. It would work but not look at all correct.
it looks like this.... two rubber with pipe inside... regards Matthias Image Unavailable, Please Login
Problem is, how do you know since the Spare Parts Catalog assigns no part #'s to those bits? Do you have part numbers? If so, please share.
