Wishful thinking!!!!!!!!! Guess they believe the high end detailing job justifies the ridiculous price. Good luck to that.

Yikes... but I believe the mileage. Those are the orangest guages I've ever seen on a 328. Looks like zero sun fade.

    From the ad -----
PRICE: Our asking price is $89,900

    From me ----
PRICE: My bidding price is $49,900

........... if I actually were in the market for a 328...

Beautiful car but $90k. Wishful thinking, I guess. Agree that $50k might be more in the ballpark. But in this economy I wonder if it would bring that?

Well that's sort of the money us Aussie's have to pay for a 328 so count yourselves lucky that you can pick them up for the $30K mark...

I think we are seeing the "Newman" effect starting to play out. Yahoos are seeing Newman's price on eBay (justified) and thinking their cars must be worth that much too without knowing the whole story... Lame... but good for resale value on our cars - if the trend catches on we're all gonna owe Paul money, dinner or at least a beer!

Wow, was every red/tan '89 328 GTS a speculator car? There seem to be tons of these ultra-low mileage cars coming out of the woodwork these days.

A lot of them were but the supply is dwindling. I've put two of them "into service" myself. Nevertheless, the car in question should still bring 60-62K IMO assuming the condition is great and original plus recent service. I sold an '89 myself last spring with 24K on it for 56K. For 90K, I'd expect a car that was shrink wrapped at the factory and never opened or seen any light!

You bought a 9K-mile pristine 328 for $27,800? Or, you bought some 328 for $27,800?

The market range for 328s is vast, and probably goes from $10K for a parts car that is currently on fire to ~$90K for a shrink-wrapped time capsule that has never had dust on the tire treads.

Also the RM Auctions effect, because a time capsule 328 actually brought $90K

FWIW, this one probably isn't worth that, but I could easily see $65K-$70K if someone is looking for a low mileage keeper and not interested in driving it.

Seems like it. There seem to be more perfect red/tan '89 328s than any other year or color combo.

Maybe investors are tired of losing money on a car that needs maintenance even while it is not being enjoyed.

I had OWM of Atlanta spend a Day on the car inspecting it, before I Paid for it. Had major done in 07' 54K miles, each owner had all service records since new. The mech. told me its in great shape. I think I got lucky...been driving it everyday for the last 2 weeks and can't get enough!!!!

I have some more pics under "Louisiana" "looking for 308" posted by mtmilam. These show the engine and interior better. I just don't have these pics on this laptop. The PO just got tired of owning the car (he had it for 10 yrs., he was a hedge fund broker) and I don't think he bought it to hold it for resale...He just wanted it sold for whatever it would bring on ebay....thats about what the market value is...at least that is what people are willing to PAY for it NOW :).....Not saying they aren't worth more, because I think they are...but Market price is market price. I'm leary of a Low Mileage car anyway...to much rubber seals deteriorate from just "sitting"...:) maybe that's just me, but I like to Drive my car :D

I think you got a fantastic deal.

Yeah we definitely owe Paul for setting a new pricemark for the 308's. What Paul did is the kind of stuff that it takes for 308's to gain attention and attaches the notion of "valuable vintage". The illusion has to become reality and then people will pay for it. As soon as there are a few pristine 308 models out there selling for high amounts, a certain market will accept it as reality and a buzz will come from it and prices of certain pristine 308's may finally start going up. I think it could happen eventually considering the rarity of pristine 308's.
The 308 is a funny car with nothing really to show for historically, performance wise (besides Magnum ....) but I don't think that it will just disappear in Ferrari archives and go away, it's design is a classic.

Actually, they were, IMO.....it was the "Last Year" as well as the very height of "Enzo just died" frenzy.......a lot of them were locked away to never turn a wheel..348s were flooding the market during the Oil Embargo, and the 'dot.com crash' crisis...remember?

You'll see the 89 -1/2 cars advertized with less than a thousand miles on them....

They must have moved this one around the warehouse to charge the battery, I'm suprised they don't mention "driven only INDOORS"!!!!!!!

    GTBs even more so.......

mtmilam you DID make a great deal and I agree with all of your reasoning...

Your girls smiles say it all!!

    ....here's mine.....

I'd try to score some OEM 16" wheels to put away, before they ALL go on the older cars! LOL!
...and tape over those driving lenses ASAP with some thick clear film!!!!!

Wow, and it's the AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION version! Worth every penny for the rareness factor! ;)

Hmm, maybe I'll put a new speedo in my 328 and advertise it as having ZERO miles!
