One thing I will say is that if you just wear it every day, within a week you will no longer feel self conscious about it at all. I wear mine pretty much everywhere, and with every sort of clothing. Suits, jeans, golf attire, swimsuit, you name it.

Well, I hate to add to the mix here.....doctor of mine had a friend driving his McLaren in the sf bay area. Thugs followed him off the bridge and home. took him inside at gun point, stole all his watches, monies and important things from his safe. Threatened him good. He moved, added super security, fake safe with fake watches etc. Coming across the bridge he realized he was being followed again. Called PD and they instructed him to a certain exit where they waited for him. Thugs tried to flee after they sprung the trap and were caught. 3 guys, multiple weapons seized, etc. All felons...Our cars are quite a bit more flashy than our watches I must say. I was asked at a taco truck if my Rolex was real....felt like I had my pants down....rolled down my sleeve right then. Nice guy with his family but not a great area to be flashing it. Live and learn.....

Anytime I drive my exotics- I look more out the rear view mirror than the front. Need to be vigilant at all times.

It also depends what the watch is (and what the exotic car is, for that matter). My Rolex Explorer doesn't draw much attention at all. Neither does my 612, for that matter.

I'm headed to eastern Europe in a few days, and I'm planning to wear my Explorer. The only security tip I have taken is to make sure it is covered on my insurance.

A long sleeve polo shirt can be a great defense.

I'm with donv. I've DD'd a Pepsi for years. I don't even think about it. Work, going out, travel, city, country, beach, climbing hiking biking, all over the world from 3rd world to 5 stars no one cares or notices, and very rarely comments. If they do it's "Nice watch." Thanks."

Any time I've been concerned about safety it's purely been it's because I made a wrong turn or didn't listen to the tour guide or let my situational awareness drop for a second. All those times I'm 100% sure if I thought about and hid the watch it would have made zero impact on the outcome. In those spots I already stand out like a sore thumb. Luckily so far I've been able to GTFO before anything bad has happened. And I'm getting better and not getting into those situations. Being drunk in a bar is one of those things I avoid 100% these days. :)

Just DD whatever and insure them. Chubb doesn't even need papers or appraisals for anything under $50k, and that's with zero deductible.

Oh and as for hotels - I had one overly cautious hotel that took valuables left strewn about leaving a card where the valuable was taken from with instructions to go pick it up from the main hotel safe. I thought it was weird but one day when they took my iPhone and left that card I decided to just leave the phone in their safe for the rest of the trip. THAT was awesome. :D

Been all over the world with my watches and cameras. Many dangerous / poverty areas. Carry insurance and don’t waste time worried about it. I just stay aware and keep lower profile and don’t look like a tourist. I’d be more worried about driving an exotic in CA than the expensive watches and camera gear.
