Experienced vs. Inexperienced Clear Bra Installer

Although, we see on a day to day basis, we just wanted to show the difference between a precut / poor installation vs. a proper one. This F430 had half the hood, partial fenders, mirrors, lights, and bumper filmed from a particular dealer in the Bay Area. The areas where there are gaps, naturally, there are many chips. In areas with compound curves, you would see some pretty extensive stretch marks and silvering all of which are flaws in the installation. We are currently replacing all of the film on the car - pictures to come with the fit and finish these cars deserve from our team at Premier

What's the U.V. story on these protective films? How long do they last before they discolor or begin to get milky?

 

UVs do penetrate allowing for the paint to fade evenly.

This here goes into several things: 1. being extremely detail oriented 2. years and years of experience in custom application alone. What it comes down to is that many companies attempted in custom application with only the basics in film application. This is where they get into trouble and begin cutting the film on paint and cutting right through. I am certain this is your concern Bill S, but hopefully you did not experience this firsthand. We receive inquiries from other companies on providing training for custom apps on a weekly basis, which to date we have not yet provided for obvious reasons. There are companies that are probably monitoring these forums as well, which is why we do not disclose how we do what we do so well - hope you understand.

Great job that looks awesome! Can't even see it. My BMW has the "before" pictures unfortunately, although not as bas of gaps as your pictures showed.

 

Great job Sammy as usual. Like the other gentleman said, that by far is not a bad job. Compared to some of the other film jobs I've seen, this guys a pro. The sad thing is that in addition to a mediocre job, the owner probably was charged an arm and a leg b/c it was done at a "dealership". Comes down to owners who are not completely educated in what constitutes a good install and then not saying to the dealership that it's not acceptable.

I find this post surprising given that Premier did a very poor installation on my F430, and at $2000 significantly overpriced.

It wasn't much more that a kit, at near custom prices. the mirrors aren't even fully wrapped.

Of course opinions vary, and anyone in the Bay area is free to see my car (at a mutually convenient time) and some comparisons to draw their own conclusions. I'm confident in my judgement, fairness and sense of value. But like I said.. opinions vary

Odd, I found the complete opposite. I had Premier remove the preexisting film from two of my Ferrari's as they were as you mentioned, 'much more like a kit' exhibiting large cut outs and exposed areas where the film was not tucked under the bumper or rolled around the hood properly. Last week they covered my F430. No pre-cuts, but all custom and everything tucked nicely on the front bumper cover/spoiler and entire hood. They also covered the mirrors and sills. Great bunch of guys and more then happy with their work. Would absolutely recommend them. I have no affiliation with Premier.

 

Premier did a beautiful job on both of my Ferrari's. I understand in any business you can't please all the peaple all the time.
My cars were covered perfectly and at reasonable price.

 

I would like to first thank the Fchat community for your contiunal support throughout the years. As many of our customers / eventual friends already know, we at Premier take great pride in the work we do and the service we provide. Unfortunately, like in all businesses, you can never satisfy everyone. But since Colm is so emphatic about his judgment of our work, I find it only fair for the Fchat community to make their own judgment. First I implore all to view the following thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170398&page=3 The last post does a nice job at summarizing it all. The thread above illustrates to those who want to look into the validity of Colm's claim, to which his intentions are very clear.

Now since I was the one who greeted Colm when he first came to Premier, I should probably let our side of the story be heard as well. If you recall Colm, during our initial conversation you said "I have another installer that I use. I'm ONLY using you guys because my installer is not available." I remember this conversation vividly as I've never encountered a customer with such a demeanor. To make things worst, at the time when I showed you the car at completion, you were standing 3 feet away from your car and barely took notice at how the work was done. So I find it extremely unfair for you to say our work is done "very poor".

As far as saying our work "wasn't much more than a kit, at near custom prices"...the following photos of your car say it all.

 

Here are some pictures taken of Colm's car during the installation process. As everyone can see, the work on the car is all cutom. Among the EXTENSIVE work performed on the vehicle were a custom full hood with wrapped edges, custom front bumper done with 1 piece of film with no cut outs, seams or gaps, and custom rocker panels.

As everyone can see from the pictures, the work performed on Colm's f430 is indeed custom. For one reason or another, Colm keeps insisting that our work is done poorly and even went as far as saying it is nothing more than a "kit". Again, it was not until COLM'S INSTALLER screwed up two (at least what we know of) new Porsches, with the Porsche owners exposing the incidents of YOUR INSTALLER CUTTING ON THEIR CARS on Rennlist and came to us for re-installation, that you began attacking us. Please provide the whole story Colm. I know it is tough to admit being wrong some times, but to constantly attack us because you made a serious mistake that resulted in one brand new 997 Turbo needing repaint and another new Cayman with severe razor cuts, is a very underhanded move. As colm has stated, we also implore everyone to view the work on his car to compare it with what you've seen in the pictures. So as a note, if the work on Colm's car is no longer fully "custom" like the ones shown in the pics, then it is not our work! As mentioned before, we would like the community to see the truth for what it really is. Thank you all and Happy New Years.

I have to put my hand up for Sammy and Wilson. They treat the cars like they are their own. I'll bet Colm didn't even realize that a special film was used just for the hood. You just can't buy that stuff anywhere!

When my Scuderia arrives, I will have them back to install film. The attention to detail in their installation is obvious. These guys love what they do. Try to convince them to take a break to eat! Impossible!

 

I am a customer of Premier. I think they are top quality but a little pricey. However, you get what you pay for!

To be perfectly honest, the original pics of the precut kit doesn't look so bad bc it's a precut kit. Not sure what the original purpose is of the thread. It's not like a precut from Premier is going to be 100% wrinkle free and won't have cut outs. I hope no one is offended by what I am saying. I think it's just good for everyone to express their opinion.

Imagine my surprise a bash Premier thread by Colm.These guys have done over three dozen of MY customers,and on a couple of occasions there were issues that had to be rectified due to dirt under the film on radius curves mirrors etc...they have always taken care of any problems right away,just the other day I was talking to Sammy and pointed out a little dirt under the film on one of my headlights and he wants to replace it,they did the install TWO years ago.

This issue has been hashed out on Rennlist,sixspeedonline and maybe other chat sites I am not aware of, the consensus is Premier does quality work at top dollar prices and the only people that complain are the " thrifty " read CHEAP group,some things are worth the price and some are not how come there are not numerous posts of guys complaining about getting overcharged by Premier? also how come you do not hear glowing praise about other " clearfilm " installers Premier is not a clearfilm monopoly the free market dictates the top vendors by the body of work completed over time, I do not see requests for other installers to go out of thier home market area......... makes you think, or at least it should.

My .02 $ once again on this subject.

 

These are very interesting pictures and the historical thread of Colm's change in posture you posted in October also provides a perspective that I think Colm needs to answer. They are certainly supportive of your argument that Colm has some beef that goes beyond being dissatisfied with a single job. I know very well that Colm has been on many boards (rennlist, 6speed, here) as a lonely voice complaining about Premier when most Premier customers seem to be fully satisfied. I can't say either way, since I've not used Premier; though in the interests of full disclosure, I should say that Colm and I have shared some meals.

If Colm has been unjustly tainting your reputation then he should be asked to explain the discrepancies in his postings versus your rather thorough counter. My only problem is that I know he can't answer them. He was warned against further postings on the October thread and has been banned against further postings on this and future Premier threads. Let me be clear that I'm not defending his complaints against you, particularly if they are unfounded; merely that I think it's unfair to build a case against someone or ask them to admit anything when they're not permitted to answer.

 

After reading the posts it's apparent that Colm attempted to build a case against Premier, not the other way around, and Premier is merely defending their position by responding to Colm's claims and exhibiting supporting pictures of the work they performed.
