Man oh man.. if he really tried to do that, it is the greatest piece of driving I've ever seen. Look how little room he had between the cars on his right, and the bank on the left.. and he totally nailed it. Amazing.

Ok ok, that last hairpin turn was just ridiculous. That could have ended VERY badly had he been off by a couple more inches. Amazingly well done, almost hard to believe!

Aside from being the single best showing of car controlmanship I've ever seen, I think it was intentional. You can see that the rear wheels specifically broke loose and he had his hands in position to do that counter steer before it started .. not something you have ready when you're expecting to brake in a straight line. Also, he was modulating the brakes right from the beginning, you can see the wheels lock and unlock throughout the manuever.

As far as it being really really close ... ahhhh. He was a good 2 feet from the nearest car and missed the telephone pole by 1 foot at least. What looks like whitish rocks lining the road is snow on grass, so his wheels weren't exactly inches away from being ripped off.

Still, without a dout, the best piece of driving I've seen.

Gigi Galli is a pretty famous rally driver -- a big name in europe that hasn't really translated in the US since there is zero rally presence here (compared to europe). There is a DVD of his driving floating around, and these little clips are samples from it. I have seen the whole DVD but do not have it...his car control is nothing short of amazing.

OT I'm a little surprised that this is news, these video clips have been around for at least 6-8 months...
