    Hi there,

I've often wondered how Ferrari exports their new cars to the various dealers around the world?
Are the cars mostly going by plane, cargo ship, closed truck, train,... ?
I guess cars for other continents are mostly going by cargo ship? But what about Europe? Wich itinary do new Ferrari's follow to get to Brussels for instance? Guess they're not driving them here anymore like J. Swaters did once :D What about other dealerships in Europe and the rest of the world? By wich transport methods do they get their cars and how long does it take to get them there? Has anybody got accurate info on this subject? Or pics of new Ferrari's in transport or while being up- or unloaded?
    Any info is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    :)

I have often been wondering about the same question, but perhaps I can ask my contact at the Danish Ferrari import to try and find out! :)

When Ferrari UK were at Egham they used to get a lorryload every Friday for PDI & distribution in the UK - now the cars go direct from the European PDI centre to the dealer - again I would guess by covered truck - the US cars go by sea to New Jersey (I think) although there is the option to pay about USD 5000 for airfreight delivery

I know some Ferrari's are being delivered by truck. Somethings on a flatbeth truck and somethings in a closed truck.

When i was in Maranello in 1999 i saw a loaded (open!!!) truck full of brand new 360's and maserati's!!! :)
Don't know what the destination was but don't think it was very far away!! The cars weren't covered or anything!!!
Got some pics of it somewhere (not digital!) but don't have a scanner! :(

I also saw once a truck full of Ferrari's near Zaventem!! ;) Again the cars were uncovered!!!! It was going the other way (on the highway) but i'll never forget i was staring backwards to that nice ass of a silver 456 mgt and almost smashed into the car in front of me!!! :D

Thanks for the info so far everyone! :D

Yes, now I remember I've read somewhere that it is possible for US residents to choose a delivery by plane for an extra price and that they normally go by cargo ship. So New Yersey harbor would be the most likely destination for ships carrying Ferrari's?

I'm really surprised some of you saw new Ferrari's being transported on open trucks. Must be an amazing sight! I almost can't believe it!
Maybe those are only used for shorter distances from the main dealer to the smaller concessions? Like Brussels to Antwerpen for instance?
It would be insane if the cars coming from Maranello to all over Europe would be transported uncovered all the way!? Such trucks would 'cause too much attention wouldn't they? And what about the risk of getting damaged underway?

I only saw two trucks carrying each about 8 F355's, driving behind each other in the neighbourhood of Francorchamps once. But those were tracked 355 Challenge cars, not new ones.

Some European distributors pick up the cars from the factory by truck. An article in an old Cavallino once had a short story written about Ferraris destined for the US. Back then (I believe in the eighties) US cars were transported by truck to Bremerhaven, Germany. From there on the cars were transported by boat to the US shore.

    Thanks! Nice pics! :D

Jurgen, those pics of the 612 on the flatbed could give Ferrari a bit of a bad image for some people :D

Here you can see 2 enzo`s wraped in, I think they where transported by plain to an asian country.

Here in Belgium I know that in the days from Garage Francorchamps depannage 2000 from antwerp drove them to FNA, just like you can see on the picture with the 612.

I do not know how they do it this days, I think they will come directly to antwerp, gent, Waterloo now. I can`t believe that they just put a new Ferrari in the mud in Waterloo. I was there with my 456 some time agoo and I had to park my baby between the BMW bikes and in the mud !!!! What a disapointment when you are used to go to Zaventem. I do prefer FNA now.
