I was looking in the engine bay this afternoon after a fantastic run and notices the wires below that seem to be exposed on both sides beneath the shock tower. Any idea what they are for? Is it OK to leave them like this? From what I can tell there isn't insulation for each strand individually, so I guess it is OK if the strands make contact with each other. Maybe it is some kind of ground wire....

    thanks

Looks like the wires from your thermo couplers. They should run down to your cats. I believe the outside braided portion is just shielding. Any issue with your “Slow down” lights?

No issue at all, car has never run better. I have hyperflows, not sure if it makes a difference or not.

Looks like the shielding got pulled away from the end connector. With the exception of a braided ground, exposed wires are a big no-no.. for corrosion resistance if nothing else.

I'd probably try to secure that insulation a bit.

I once got a check engine light and I found a couple wires exposed like yours. I taped them over with electrical taped and also cleaned the electrical points and greased. With both these actions, the CEL disappeared.

Thats exactly how mine look and its fine, those "exposed wires" do have a plastic coating so you should have no issues

thanks everyone. I'll investigate some more to see if they do have a coating or not.

I have one that looks the same, but agree should have insulation.
