I subscribe to the you only live once doctrine and always option full carbon exteriors. I know some think it just blends in and can’t be seen all that well, but who actually disagrees that full exterior carbon always looks better? Who thinks it actually detracts from the exterior look of a car? I’ve heard that viewpoint as well. Compared to base plastic.

The only argument for me to not option it is to cheap out. And I don’t work this hard to save money and never spend it. Personally I love it.

Here's my thing, does carbon fiber actually look good or do we like it because we know what it is? It's a bland color with a pattern on it, is that actually attractive or do we find it attractive because of its value and again what it is?

I personally think it's the latter, I say this about a lot of cars as well that my friends think look good. A rolls Royce cullinan looks like a hearse, a Lamborghini urus looks like a Toyota venza, a c8 corvette looks like they told little Timmy in 2nd grade to draw a car and then just said "screw it let's go with that".....I could go on.

I'm not a huge carbon fiber fan for anything but performance sake...I completely understand using it for tubs, body parts, etc. for weight savings but for trim pieces and stuff I don't get the point. The C7 guys like to put that stuff on for front splitters and stuff then complain when it gets scraped up and has to spend a grand to fix it. Just seems pointless to me. I have a CF rear grille on my 360 but honestly I like the looks of the OEM better...just needed those holes and found a deal.

CF always looks better than base plastic, especially if that plastic is black….my exhibit A is the MC20, which is basically a two tone car with body color on top and black plastic on bottom. The plain black plastic version looks horrible, but is stunning when you pony up for CF.

OP I like it for both the reasons you stated. If I'm on budget I'd prefer more carbon inside than outside. If money no object, then carbon everywhere, keeping in mind being tasteful. I like polished carbon due to the 3D effect, not so much with matte finish. Colored polished carbon is just next level awesomeness.

I like it the way the designers imagined it... which is in gloss black. You're only lessening the contrast by using grey CF.

Let's say CF was just a pattern and not associated with performance and weight, and it was the free option while the gloss black was the paid "premium" option. What would you choose?

Gloss black 100% over an ugly grey with a weird pattern in it....

The allure of CF isn't what it actually looks like, anyone who says that is fooling themselves.

Personally, I would never pay for it. I dunno about you, but when I'm driving, I ain't looking at the interior. I'm looking out the front windshield.

Totally depends on the car and color and style. Some just will clash more w the carbon and are better suited to gloss black. Definitely don’t think it is carbon or else.

Disagree. The ONLY allure of CF is the look of it, for me. I don’t care about weight savings and other benefits. I’ll never notice those with my usage and skills… I can’t stand the forged CF look that Lambo uses but I love the gloss weave CF look.

So, to say people are fooling themselves if they say they like the look of it, that’s just a weird statement. On the contrary, I doubt anyone buys it for weight savings only.

the weight saving is good (esp on the tub) and rigidity is good but mostly cf is for resale and to make ferrari extra money

I think that CF really pops with some colours, others not so much. On the first few Roma's I was able to see in person, I much preferred the CF rear diffuser and sides instead of the flat dull black plastic looking trims on the models the dealer had in their showroom. It really cheapened the overall look of this beautiful sculpture called the Roma, maybe because the scuff marks were more noticeable on the plastic too, or it was not PPFd.

Not just the weight savings but the value of it is what people think makes it attractive in my mind.

To each their own I suppose but you're going to have a hard time proving to me that the bias of knowing its value isn't what makes you think it's attractive. A bland ugly gray that doesn't match anything with a weave in it I wouldn't exactly call attractive....but again to each their own. This is coming from someone who had every CF option in their Ferrari.

Price and weight or whatever else being equal I doubt many people are going to be specifically choosing a mismatched odd gray for anything on their car.

You see, the bigger issue is the standard cheap plastic. If it was painted gloss black no one would complain.

Would you own a pink car with a penis painted on it? Carbon might be ugly, or it might not be worth the buy-in, but let's not pretend the exterior of the car doesn't matter to us.

FWIW, I like the look of carbon on greys, blacks, and whites I don't care for it on other colors. The cost is absurd, and I prefer to spend it on interior carbon if it's one or the other. Or I would prefer to spend it on an exterior upgrade, like exhaust.

    I hate the Cowboys!

I have only ordered one new Ferrari in my life. It was a Challenge Stradale. And yes, I got in Rosso Scuderia with a stripe.

Has anyone with a Roma experienced damage to exterior CF?

I'm on the Roma Spider waitlist with full exterior CF specced. This car will be daily-driven. Wondering if exterior CF is a bad idea
