    I have a Inspiron 17 (2013) and never thought about a small/portable external speaker system. Any suggestions that offer unexpected quality without a huge sticker price? I thought I would ask here before I started a frustrating internet search. Do such kits have or offer earphones?

    Those Bluetooth external speakers can be had for under 50 bucks and have pretty good sound, volume. I'm sure amazon has a category just for them with plenty of reviews.

    Don't be concerned about stereo. Get the biggest single speaker that you can find and place it next to a wall on your desk for actual base. If you are after stereo imaging you will need a set of ear buds.
