I'm probably NOT going to have the tickets I thought I'd have. There's always a slight chance, though.
Ive got a pit pass you can have but you need to have a grandstand ticket for the big show cause they kick you out of the pits 30 min prior to th event, David 817-475-6112.
Was invited to the Bombardier last minute by a property manager friend.. It was a cool race. Danika who? Paul sr and jr Teutul ( Orange county choppers) rode some fancy choppers around the track before the race... I am getting tired of the biker craze.. Anyway here are some lame camera phone pics, mainly of wrecks! I love my Row 3, section 101 seats at the start line I was pulling for Scheckter, mainly for the Ferrari connection...
I was trying to watch the race at Fred's Cafe. It was a difficult task to preform with the sound off in a crowded bar & FREDSFEST 05 was in full swing. Lots of happy drunk people. Btw, if anyone has a chance to catch Honchie live, you don't want to pass up thier show. www.honchie.com
! Every time I heard of Thomas Scheckter I thought of Jody Scheckter, but until I read Tillman's post I thought the name was just a coincidence. So I did some googling: From http://www.safrica.info/ess_info/sa_glance/sports/greats/scheckter.htm Cool!
It was a great race. If only F1 would do one super speedway. Anyway, my take on the race was: Scheckter had the fastest car all night by far. Schechter was the fastest in traffic. He would exit the pits in 4th and after just a few laps would be in P1. Kanaan has the best pit strategy. He was too slow by himself way ahead of the field, so eventually the pack caught up, and then Schecter would move to the lead. Danica lost the race by turn 2 of lap 1. I dont know why. Team Penske drafted each other as a team, and it almost worked. I think team drafting on an oval could be a successful strategy if there were more 2 car teams, like in F1. Thanks again to LightGuy for the pit passes!!! Im Steve Machett, and Im David Hobbs, saying goodbye from this weeks installment of IRL Yesterday.
Scheckter would have run away with this thing if his pit crew was better. As it was, this was still a runwaway by TMS standards -- the cars weren't side by side! Image Unavailable, Please Login
