The flying that the helicopter pilot was doing was great fun and it took me back to when I used to try to dog fight with the buzzards in Florida in a Cub. I could never out manuever them or out turn them but it was fun trying . Damn good stall-spin practice in a Cub, too, since the speed of a buzzard isn't quite what you could call airspeed even in a Cub.

Used to try and out turn Canadian Honkers with my old N3N biplane. They would turn their heads and watch...when I got too close they would fold their wings and drop out of the way. Never Luftberry with a goose....they are gonna win.

Yep! Them honkin Buzzards did the same as those honkin Honkers. I still remember them crankin' their heads back to keep an eye on me and ZAAAP! they out-turned me every time. Sometimes I could pick them up again in the dive after the stall but they would just out-turn me again. Get tard of that and I would go buzz the wild cows out on the dry lake beds. That's a lot of fun until you find out that some fool has strung telephone lines across them.
N3N, Sparky ? Man I would give anything to have one today. Good ol' airplane!

I use to have a Luscombe 8A. My thing was throwing out a roll of toilet paper and trying to see how many times I could cut it with my wing. I could only get about four times. I also use to chase cows and strafe semi trucks, when I could catch them. If I didn't have the angle on them they would get away. If they had a head wind they could easily out run me. I never got close enough for any of them to realize that I was tracking them. I often wish that I had kept that airplane. It was great flying.

A guy in our local club just had his 152 nominated as plane of the month, he tells the story of flying down the Red River (between OK and TX) at water level and doing touch & go's on the sand bars.

I'll stick to straight and level flight for now. :)
