My brother in law has a 2016 f 12 with low miles. He is ordering a 488 and is debating whether to keep the f 12 and decline the 488. We know it's two different cars but at least the f 12 is a touring car and can be a monster when it wants to be. So, what do you guys think. Take a 30k hit, and buy the 488 or just say the heck with it and keep the f 12. Buy the way he just got a 2016 porsche GT3RS

I can't do anything less than a V12 anymore. My F12 ruined me, lol

Would never even consider trading it for a 488, but it depends what kind of package you want in a supercar.

No way i would switch the F12 for a 488. A Speciale maybe but not a 488. They just dont sound good at all and to me sound is one of the most important factor (esp when everything else is pretty amazing)

I say trade the F12 for F12M, if he finds a dealer who will take his F12 as part exchange and enjoy his Porsche while waiting..

I'm in a similar position in that i own an F12 and at GT3 RS but not currently a mid engine F car. I think the 488 is a wonderful vehicle but with what I've got i feel no pressing need for one. The F12 is just so great and i need not rehearse its qualities for this audience. The Porsche is so much fun, with its steampunk hisses and whirs, basically a track car that's street legal. Very entertaining. And one of its great qualities is that it makes my F12 seem like such a Plush GT by comparison.

I would really miss my F12!

There is no way I would ever swap from a V12 to anything less. It just does not exist.

However I am looking into getting either a 488 Spider or a California T, now that will get me into trouble since I am currently lacking the garage space for another car - however I think I might be able to solve that. So in general it is an easy choice right? Not so with the wife.......

Granted the 488 is supposed to be very very fast, but after just getting the F12 and driving it for about 1,000 miles so far I can tell you the car is just incredible. It IS a front engined supercar. I can only imagine what the TDF will be like. While I understand people calling it a GT, it is the most extreme GT you will find from a major manufacturer. Im not selling my 458, I still love it, I still think its a little more agile, but the F12 has a shocking amount of agility for a car of its size, weight, and layout. Ferrari said they wanted to give their front-mid car the dynamics of their mid-rear car and I think they've come very very close with the F12. If I had to pick one car between them it would be the F12. Hands down. Best driving Ferrari I've ever experienced.

Well, I'm a novice but I can tell you that I drove the 458, 488 and F12 as I was interested in one of them, but it came down to the F12. What an experience. Now, I just have to buy one. Any hints from all of you would be appreciated. I'm thinking 2015, CPO, 5000 miles lots of options but no lift.....240ish. am I crazy?

Nope you are not Crazy... Lots of car for 240K, and one of the best exotics I have had. Not sure what color you are looking at, but Lambo of Houston/ indigo Auto Group has a well optioned (all carbon, lifter, passenger display, high fi stereo, etc.) for 239K (probably less with negotiations),. It is a 2014 with 3800 miles. No affiliation, but a lot of options and low miles for the price, and a lifter is a must have - in my opinion if you have any steep inclines or speed bumps you need to navigate.

Lift is a must- have. The nose is way lower on an F12 than a 458.

I am so curious, does this means the newer tech of 812 like rear wheel steering makes the new v12 mid front engine car even more agile? can anyone compare agility between 812 and f12,thanks alot,
PS i am looking into 458 pre owned for agility reasons,my 812 is coming in August
    thanks all

I drove my friends F12 and can tell you I wouldn't exchange it for a 488. Matter of fact, I am contemplating adding an F12 to sit along side my 458 Spider. With that said, if there was an opportunity for an 812 Aperta/Spider, then all bets are off.....:D

I haven't driven an F12 so I can't comment, but I will note that you are asking in the V12 section of F Chat, so... I think you know the answer. :)

I have been next to and behind an F12 before and man do they sound amazing! If I could have a convertible F12 with CarPlay that'd be the ultimate for me!

A V12 is magnificent - for the road nothing could match it.
On the track there is the weight penalty, but while not as fast as a lighter car it's still mighty.
(for the record, I changed my 599 for a 488 - so I lost one unit on each digit ;) - at the time it was a close call between a used F12 or the new 488)

Why would you trade an icon for an ugly turbo charged car?
