Exactly.... Photoshop is my vote. Take a look at the cockpit on the F15 and the seat in it. Now take a look at the Testarossas. That seat would be able to fit in the Testarossas with no problem. It doesn't look like it would. Also, take a look at the wing height on the plane in comparison to the roof height of the cars. The rules of perspective would say the cars should look larger than they normally would in comparison to the plane due to them being in the foreground. Not smaller. Something's not right about this pic...
damn nice pic... senna- are you saying the f15 seat should be able to fit into the testarossa? if so, i highly doubt that. ejection seats are fairly large..
It does look strange, but I think it's just the angle. The video shows the two cars driving up to the plane and here's another picture that looks better: http://www.exhaust.tv/f15/pics/P4220038.JPG
F-15C Wing span: 42.8 feet (513 inches) Length: 63.8 feet (765 inches) Height: 18.5 feet (222 inches) Testarossa Width: 77.8 inches (6.48 feet) Length: 176.6 inches (14.7 feet) Height: 44.5 inches (3.7 feet)
This months Automobile magazine has a Viper versus F-16 Also: 1910 - Antoinette monoplane versus Mercedes 1914 - Barney Oldfield Fiat versus Lincoln Beachey's Curtis 1982 - Aston Martin versus Nimrod 1981 - Gilles Villeneuve versus F-104 1998 - Paul Tracey versus CF-18 2003 - Schumacher versus Eurofighter
You have obviously have never been up close to an F-15. They are not small planes. Also why would the seat in a fighter jet be bigger than a seat in an Testarossa? Do you expect everyone who flies them to be Shaq's size? Understand that the Air Force has a max height of 6'3" for their pilots(IIRC). So why would the jet have dramaticlly bigger seats?
The Oregon Guard has a sqdn here in Klamath Falls. The crew chiefs refer to them as "supersonic tennis courts". Have had a few up close encounters with a them and I gotta tell ya.......very big machine. Been on the edge of the runway about mid field, burners on and gear starting to come up as they go screaming by...wow what a rush. Makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The pilots love them. My tax's at work....fly on.
That's a very real picture. Look at the shadows. If that was a photo shop I'd say the guy who did it is a genius and could make millions creating photos for tabloid magazines.
It's no photoshop. First, the seats sit higher to give the aircrew better visibility, and second, the seat contains all the explosive charges and rocket for the ejection sequence, except for those within the interior panels of the cockpit. Ejection seats let fly with a 7G jolt, so they need to be sturdy, especially since they often times are required to go through the canopy and into a 300+ knot airstream. You could NEVER fit the Martin Baker Back Breaker into a Testarossa due to the size and weight constraints; you would have to cut out the floor and the roof and reinforce the frame of the car.
The f-15 is a gigantic fighter jet. compared to the f-14, f-16, f-18, and the JSF F-35, this plane is a giant. The size of the plane is mainly due to it's dual engines, which none of the other planes have. I recently saw these fly at the MCAS cherry point airshow in north carolina, and believe me, if i had a few billion dollars lying around, i'd buy one.
The F-14 and F/A-18 both have twin engines. A few "billion" to buy? I don't think they cost over $40m each, if that. Edit: F-15s were $42.875 million back in 1991.
Exactly...also I don't think civilians can't buy F-15's yet. All the people that want to have fun in their own fighter jet usually buy a Russian L-39 Albatross for about $300,000 to a million.
F-15 Eagle Wing span: 42 feet 10 inches Length: 63 feet 9 inches Height: 18 feet 6 inches Wing Area 608.0sq ft
That was the two seat Strike Eagle with the FAST packs. F-14Ds were going for about $38 M. new and to upgrade low-time airframes to either A+ or D variant was aound $11M per airframe. All modern naval aircraft have dual engines; it is a requisite for blue-water ops. The last tactical naval aircraft that had only one engine was the A-7 Corsair II. In terms of size the F-15 is comparable o the Sukhoi 27 Flanker. As for the F-18, the original C/D is a little larger than the F-16, but the new F/A-18E/F SuperHornet is approximately 25% larger to provide or more fuel, electronics, sensors and weapons hardpoints for multi-mission capability. Every other fighter in the Navy or Air Force will eat its lunch, though.
Im currently building a 1/34 F-15E Strike Eagle model and the picture has givin me a great idea. since i got a few Lambos and Ferraris models i could do something. The F-15 is my favorite fighter plane, i highly doubt the Miltary is gonna let normal civilian regardless of how rich they are buy F-15 Eagles. I seen people buy the old ww2 fighters but thats about it. I believe the most they are gonna let anyone buy is the shell of the plane lol. Thats why if you want a fighter plane but dont have the money to afford the killer price tag you can always buy a Lamborghini or Ferrari, Vector. The F/A-22 is gonna replace the F-15 and F-16 in the next few years along with the F-35JSF after 2010 so sadly the F-15C days are numberd.
Yea...When I said yet, I was thinking like 50 years or more in the future. They won't be shells. They just won't have any confidential equipment or any guns. My uncle has a F4U Corsair and there are civilians with cobra helicopters so, it's just a matter of time.
There's a guy with an F/A-18 SuperHornet. It was bought off of a surplus auction as scrap metal. It's just the fuselage and nothing else. The gov't forgot to cut the fuselage in certain points to deem it unairworthy and the guy is putting it together to fly again (I've heard he finished, but I haven't seen pictures). Edit: He bought it for $14,000 (yes, thousand).
Would love to see the finished result of your model building endeavor... Post some pictures. In the meantime here's another picture. (I have tons of images I haven't even put up on the site yet since we were focused on the video). This one was shot by Samuel Bendet USAF. Image Unavailable, Please Login
1st off i have to say nice picture of the F15 and the testarossas. i like the fish eye lens picture alot. ive been a member for a while and this is my first time posting on the site and i have to say i like the site alot. i do have to say something digitec said that the f15 is big compared to the tomcat, the tomcat is the same lenght as the eagle at 62ft long and the wing span unswept is 64'ft so the tomcat is just as big as the eagle. the su-27,35,37 on the other hand is bigger than both fighters at 71 ft long with a wingspan of 48ft. anyways just thought ill post up and say hello to everyone and to once again say that this is a great site
