Note they were using burners up the hill. They need the next iteration of the afterburning turbofan that is coming down the pike. Great imagery.
Just being arbitrary here....are we sure this is not just very good cgi? Thinking H'wood from Top Gun to DDay?
This is very real. It was shot at "Star Wars" canyon near Death Valley. There are days you could sit out there all day long with nobody flying the canyon and others it is almost non stop action. The best bet is a few days prior to a Red Flag exercise the canyon gets quite busy. Here is a C-17 at the canyon.
Actually nowadays shutter noise and mirror slap with digital... Don't need a motor drive to advance those pixels...
In the Digital age you now need huge fast memory cards that can keep up with the buffer on the camera body. I have a feeling that a lot of the photogs you hear in the background are shooting JPEG files. If they were shooting RAW the buffer would have overloaded on the first burst. The biggest burst I tend to shoot is a burst of 3.Most of the Av photogs I know tend to use small bursts, the ones that machine gun there camera averages 1 good shot out of 25-30.
Very cool video! Great sounds and a variety of angles to show how fantastic the F-35 looks. The Viper is still 1000X sexier though!
A comment from a Boeing co-worker, "That thing doesn't fly. The earth repels it because it is so ugly."
I think the X-32 is more lethal because the enemy would just crash left and right after losing control laughing at it.
I remember when the 32 came to Luke on a publicity tour. We all said we would put in our papers and get out out before flying that thing. One young guy said he had too much commitment left to put in his papers, so he’d tell the boss he is gay to avoid flying it.
Funny thing? My ex & I were in Death Valley & witnessed almost the exact same thing, except it was a pair of F22s back then. Those guys looked like they were having a LOT of fun up there & buzzed us pretty good.
I was fishing in the mountains above Gunnison, CO (Gothic) years ago when a group of Thunderbolt II's did the same thing up the valley and the side of the mountain. Scared the H... out of me...
