I am interested in a By pass pipe for my F355 5.2 from KREISSIEG. Does anybody has experiences with this pipe ? I think the by pass works when the exhaust valve is open. In the OEM by pass pipe there are small cats installed. That should mean a little more power at higher revs, or ? Thanks Andi
I don't think the gains if any, will be noticeable. The cats in that pipe are metalic type (like hyper-flows) and not the restrictive ceramic material.
Thats good to know since I was considering buying someone's throwaway bypass pipe so that I could gut the cats for the extra flow. I wonder if there is any gain with the Kriessieg pipe?
not sure about the hp gains, but the exhaust note with the kreissieg sounds pretty damn cool... do a search under my name edmo7 for pics... here are some videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRPFz1TXxSU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PkRYpb3jSk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWq1BPllz-I
Here is mine with stock muffler/cossover and hyperflow cats! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6IULItYusQ
Yeah, you know the pipe with the two little cats that connects the two header collectors and meet up at the bypass valve? Mine is stock. I have full stock exhaust with the exception of the hyperflow cats! To me stock muffler sounds pretty damn good, but a good reason to change it would be to put a lighter one in. The stock exhaust is quite heavy.
I note in many posts that everyone says how light aftermarket mufflers are to stock so I weighed a stock 355 muffler and a race tubi . Well on my digital scale the stock factory muffler weighs in at 47 Ibs and the race tubi (with bracket) weighs in at 35 Ibs. Yes a 12 Ibs weight reduction on a race car is important......but in a street car.....negligible.
12 measly pounds ??? You are right it is almost a non-issue (thats 2 gallons of gas). The stock one feels heavier than 47lbs. But maybe because I was holding it up with one hand while tightening bolts with the other...
Yes'm I had the pipe installed right after putting on Tubi headers (already head Tubi exhaust and test pipes) so it's hard to just how it changed the sound for sure, but the only way I can describe it is that it cleaned it up. A friend who's driven behind me before I had headers and bypass pipe said that it sounds much more 'pure' now... It's a solid clean wail at the upper revs with much less booming at lower revs and less raspiness at the top. More F1-like I suppose. As far as power goes, my butt dyno isn't very sensitive so it's hard to say if it's any faster or not, but it certainly didn't hurt performance at all. The only thing to note is that if you have the F1 system on your car, you'll have to reroute the hydraulic hoses around the pipe. This of course involves draining the hydraulic fluid so it's not a simple R&R like with the standard 6 speed.. -R
