I recently acquired an F-355 spider and while going through the legal motions of getting it registered was told 'that the OBD plug must be fastened to the car in order for the car to be tested". Mine is hanging and does not appear to be damaged simply needs to be mounted.

So after a wasted trip to the emissions station I am at loss as to where the plug would need to be fastened (no apparent room). If anyone has an under dash picture or precise diagram I would love to see it so that I might be able to fix this "major issue" and get the DMV folks off my back!

I don't have a picture handy but it mounts a few inches off center of the steering wheel towards the right, just behind the lip of where the leather of the dash ends. Its actually a good idea to move it, there is always a tangled mess of wires in the way.

Instead of screwing it back in, you might just zip tie it to something sturdy and take it to a different shop. Its not like these guys have the experience to know the precise factory location on a 355. Its probably the first one they have tested.

Congrats and enjoy the new ride!

Its actually up under the dash to the right of the steering column and unless you're 3 feet tall extremely difficult to move, replace etc. I did however, manage to secure mine.

I THINK mine (5.2 F355) is behind the drivers seat (LHD - behind panel where ECU is on rear bulkhead) a connector is dangling down there. If its not the ODB connector then any idea what it is!?

I put a yellow circle around the OBDII connector on my 99 355. It is behind/under the steering wheel.
