other than removing the cover on it, how does one get into the fuse box on an F-40, the add wiring and remove old useless wires?

The easiest way to get full access to all the wiring, is to remove or just loosen the whole dash. It is unbelievably easy to remove 2 bolts on either ends of the dash (accessed by opening doors), and the dash can be swung up without disconnecting the wires on the left hand side. It is not much harder to totally remove the dash, you just need to undo the steering wheel at it's hub (or lower the whole steering column by undoing 2 bolts), and then disconnect the wire plugs for the instruments and switches. With the steering wheel in place, it is too tight a fit removing the dash with the instrument binacle.
