    Dear Comrades,

With the very low mileages that many F-40's cover is there still the necessity to change the engine oil each year? I ask this question because synthetic oils appear to be satisfactory for periods far exceeding those of oils used in motor cars of days gone by.

    With kind regards,

When in use, they are..the trouble with non use is that they continue to accumulate contaminates from the air and metals surrounding them.

I'd go no more than a year, and if the car is that lightly used I'd change to fuel as well and stabilize it.

Big George Foreman ruined his catalytic units and sludged up all kinds of stuff here, firing his up after two or three years of disuse.

I run Royal Purple synthetics but still change them in a 3K mile or one year interval, on my lowly 308GTBs...

Have you ever done the oil analysis services as AEHaas uses? You can actually monitor bearing/cylinder wear in this manner knowing the trace elements used, it will also show the acids and contaminants from the combustion process.

Agreed. Oil is so cheap, don't take a chance.
