They take forever to send S**T... I ordered a Puma team bag a week before Christmas and I still don't have it!!! I've called like a million times just to hear they sent it... I called today just for a follow up and they tell me they lost their Ferrari License... Isn't that a load of BULL S**T!!!

Exoticar have been known, no.....FAMOUS with their bad service, but I never knew they had a Ferrari license. They don't produce models or clothes (except the ill faithed "Speed Queen" or whatever line for chicks). They are simply distributors that were obviously backed by deep pockets and a good idea, with gorgeous stores in tree locations but that is it.
Do you know what they had a license for?

The stores they had were very nice and although I never made any large purchases I never had a problem with them. Some stuff they had was way overpriced, a few years ago they had a rear badge for a 355GTS which is my favorite car and I really wanted it but it was $300, ordered one last month from Daniel for $35.

I'm pretty sure there is only 1 authorized non-dealer licensee in all of North America... and that's Speedgear. If the item doesn't have an FNA/SpA part number associated with it (i.e. a "merchandise" item), it comes from SpeedGear. The dealers have wholesale accounts there, and probably 75%-80% of the stuff in their in-store boutiques has come from Speedgear.

I preface with "I'm pretty sure...". If things have changed, I welcome the correction.

Licensing has nothing to do with the US. Speedgear does not have a license and Exoticar never did. As other members have said, they are notorious for their services, and it is Puma who probably told them not to sell anymore. Ferrari only deals with the large companies that sell to companies like us, Speedgear and others.

I do not follow you. There is no one in the US that has any sort of license with Ferrari (other then Puma and Puma Kids). The company that has the license from Ferrari is from Spain, and SpeedGear is the same "Authorized" as Cavallino Group is.

I think the confusion is that Speedgear wholesales their goods to smaller retailers, but they "sell" goods with the "authorized by Ferrari" license (Puma, Precisport, etc)

FWIW - My wife ordered stuff from them for me on a couple of occasions and never had any issues. However, I've since learned of their shady-ness and told her not to order from them.

I also have the feeling that exoticar is not a good company, a friend of mine had a scale model company, he produced nice resin models, Exoticar found his company, and "ordered" like 30 or 40 sample models, they were going to pay them as soon as they've received the package, they received it by DHL, and then broke communications with my friend, he tried to contact them, and they always told that the guy in charge was not available or in a trip, so they fu...d him with the payment of his models, after that, he tried to sue exoticar, but it was nearly impossible, so he really lost interest in making his models and closed his company.

As a company we would like to take this time to address some of these recent issues. Please note we have recently re structured our entire Customer Service crew and we strive to always provide prompt and courteous service to our valued customers. Being a US Distributor in this day and age for Die Cast Model Cars is a very hard market as mostly all Manu factors are going to the Europe Market for double to triple the retail price and that added with the recent Lead Free Law has really stunned the US Die Cast Industry dramatically. As everyone else we are doing our very best to get the orders in even going so far in some cases as losing money on our end and flying things in from Europe to meet out valued Customers orders. As far as the specific Thread start issue with the Puma Bag according to our records Mr. Jones has no order with us other then for a catalog. If he would still like the bag we are offering a 20% off all Puma Merchandise and we have the bags in stock to ship ASAP. I think the misunderstandings about Ferrari Licensing was from when TSS&P London which made Ferrari Bags and clothing which we sold although they lost their license to Puma who is now the sole manufacturer of Ferrari Apparel. We are a Puma Authorized Distributor Unlike Speedgear who is not they purchase from a secondary source. On a Positive note we recently became the distributor for Kyosho Die Cast Models in the USA, which allows us to offer a great selection at the lowest price, and in addition we will be introducing some Ferrari Limited Edition Models later this year! About our NY store, we closed that store this past summer to take advantage of a unique opportunity to open up our new store in Atlantic City at the Pier at Caesar’s Palace, which is now open in conjunction with an Authorized Ferrari Dealership. As an added BONUS we would like to offer a ONE TIME ONLY FREE SHIPPING OFFER to all Ferrari Chat member who mention this post either on our Online Site or with a call in order only. Come experience the NEW AND IMPROVED Exoticar diffrence with our new Customer Service Center Today! Thank you all!

I am not sure if you are aware, but this thread is one of many 'anti-exoticar' sentiment threads posted over the past several years here as folks relay their abhorrant experiences. Objectively, I think it is safe to say that your company has about the absolute worst reputation among the longtime collectors here on Ferrarichat. Speaking for myself as a small time collector only, I spend almost and sometimes over $1K per year on replicas, and there is just NO WAY that I would take a chance with your reputation with that much money doing business with you when there are so many other decent and good dealers.

I hope that you are sincere, earnest and successful in salvaging your reputation. It has taken a while to get to the bottom, and it will take you a while to re-build trust, at least in this marketplace.

    Exoticar,

The order was not under Mr. Jones it was under my parents last name Mr. or Mrs. Inman... I am glad that you had sent the money back to their account, but you told us that you didn't have any of those bags in stock a couple of times. With the customer service I had got I will never order from you again.

No wonder your company sucks. No one knows how to write with a bit of professionalism.

    Whoo, tough crowd!

I too have had my share of run-ins with Exoticar:

    - Ordered models from their catalog, arriving more than a year later, if ever. And throughout the entire time, my monthly call to them was met with a different story each time
    - Bought a model at the price quoted in their catalog , only to be charged $30 more (without notification from them - I caught it on my AMEX bill as a separate charge!), with Exoticar stating that it was a typo (own up to your mistakes, Exoticar, don't make your customers pay for it)

Exoticar, if there is any truth to your claims in this thread, then I will chime in - 'IT's ABOUT TIME!' I cannot believe that you are still in business after the way you have treated us over the years!

Sorry so many of you have problems with them, but I don't see it.

Here is what I posted before which may be a reason that I have never had a problem:

"I guess I am the lone exception. I have ordered thousands of dollars' worth of models and Ferrari clothes from them. I did always order on the phone and ask if the item was in stock before ordering. I did not pre-order or get on back order lists. I do not do that with anyone. I don't really trust the blind "click to order" of the internet. And Exoticar does put a lot of items on the website when they are announced, but not available yet. Manufacturer delays and cancellations reflect negatively on the retailer if they do that. So, some consumer diligence is required.

I visited the store/warehouse in Boston, and spent a few minutes talking with a few employees. They were nice and helpful; even gave me good directions when I called ahead and remembered my name from the call when I got there. Never a problem; you're milage may vary."
