Just called F of LI to have my car inspected for a probable oil temperature gauge sensor malfunction and they just told me that they are starting to charge $100 for car pickups in Manhattan (to cover labor, tolls, gas, etc). Before it used to be complementary as long as you did some type of service to your car. Damn! I dont like paying extra for something that was free :(

Unless someone would like to give me a ride to Classic Coach :) , they are going to pickup my 360M June 3rd Thursday....so might not be able to go on any runs that weekend.

Do they drive your car to the shop or just flatbed it?

i just called CLassic coach and spoke with Mayur....very nice dude. I told him I was friends with Utkarsh and then he named names like Lupe and etc....

Classic Coach going to pick up my car tomorrow or Wednesday via flatbed. Maybe I will get new pipes too :) He will tell me the cost once he gets the car in the shop.

As far as costs for the flatbed....depending on the service involved, at most it will cost me whatever his cost is for the flatbed pickup.

And keith, the answer to your question is that F of LI flatbeds your car to and back to the dealer. Hell no they drive it :)

I hope you get those straight pipes, they enhance the sound of the Tubi immensely! Also, the sound isn't too loud on the Capristo with windows closed but honestly I haven't driven it enough with the top up/windows down

Just making sure. Yeah it is only a matter of time before they started charging people especially with gas prices now.

Im not much of a car mechanic, but I got to ask so forgive me if I sound like a mook. Now if I change my pipes to the silenced or nonsilenced pipes, how does this affect the car (positively & negatively), besides having a louder exhaust sound? AND, are there any precautions that I will have to know about once the pipes are installed (and besides having to go to the dentist to have your fillings put back in :) )?

I don't have a 360 but if I understood them correctly when they say staright pipe, if they swap out cat for straight pipe, it should gain some HP, it should be much louder(for Ferrari it is a good thing). I highly doubt it will pass NYS inspection.

Brad has the straight non-silenced test tubes.
I am just learning the difference now and I really want to hear his set up.

I have read some people have not passed emissions/state inspections...
also read that some people, to avoid the failed inspections, have them
removed and switched to orignal set up for the inspeciton, and then
    swtich back...
if this is the case, isnt this a pain if you are not mechanically inclined?
spending $300-$750 once a year (for the switching) to pass emisisons (on top of the recent incease in inspection fee $45? ok, I'm cheap!) sounds a little bit too much for 8 months (at best) of good driving time here on the east coast.

but then again, if it sounds better than just a tubi, its a tough call. =)

I would think if Classic or FoLI did the install, they would do the car inspections. Why would they install "out-of-code" equipment on your car? ;)

Nahhhhhh. Have them install the pipes, have them do the inspections.

If you install it & have it inspected at the state divisions, be prepared to swap pipes every year.

that is why it is called "test" pipe, or "off-road" test pipe.
i am almost positive the shop just does the work for you, no guarantee of it passing inspection.
now days inspection is n't the same like years ago, i used to just call up my hook-up, give the car info, and pick up the inspection stickers on my old modified rides that would not pass inspection. now days it is very strict, all cars get on dyno and result logged and transmitted to DMV i believe. i will be amazed if CC or any shop would cheat the system for you just cuz you bought the pipe from them.

thanks for the WWOC recommendation. though I have heard SO much praise at Classic Coach that I had to try them out first. So far Classic Coach, from what other people say, seems to also charge the lowest fees too and the quality of work is not compromised either.

    Hubert,

Whenever you go there, see if you can convince Frank for a ride in the Gallardo, I am sure he will oblige, the Gallardo is a very nice car and a very different experience from the 360

good idea! never riden in a lambo before.

hey Utkarsh....do u know if your car will pass smog inspection now since you got the new tubes? Cuz if I will have to swap tubes every year just for inspections, I am not sure if I will put the tubes on.

    Hubert,

I had the exact same concern when i was putting the pipes on. But Mayur at Classic Coach assured me he would handle it whenever it became an issue since they were an emissions testing center.

OK...Im going to ask him about it just to make sure when he calls me today or tomorrow. Cuz if the emissions wont be a problem, I think our NY Tri-State group will have 3 Formula 1 360's!!! :)

yeah...your silenced pipes are really nice and too loud already if driving behind u. i dont think i would want to go any louder.

Oh one more question about the straight pipes since Im an automechanic-challenged mook....these pipes put extra stress on the engine or not? if yes, any other parts of the car the pipes stress out more than stock pipes?
