Anyone know what time it starts?
I went last 2 years, and I think it was open to general public from 10am-3pm if I recall-hopefully this helps. Slightly off topic but saw real clean red Ferrari today by Oakbrook(2;15 pm)-either 308/328 gts(plate said:RICKS 3??-I was heading opposite direction)-Fellow F-chatter???(just wondering-sharp car!!!)
I live in that area, and have seen that car a couple times before. But,never got a chance to talk to him/her. My plate on my Red 308 says: N LUVN IT if you ever see me out and about.
Anybody else here going to the cocktail part at Frette's on Saturday evening? Northern Trust will host the Sunday lunch this year. Looks like it is shaping up to be a nice event.
I was registered to go to show but got an invite to close friends daughter's college grad party!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It starts at 12:30p till 3:30p at an Italian restraurant, (at least I have that going for me). I plan on driving down in the 308 to look around and say hello then go to the party. Oh well!@#$%^&*
Where did you hear about the cocktail party information, I read everywhere and it just says party, but no specifics? I am register for the show, bringing the boxer.
Nice im going this year for sure.. I went last yr, btw picture are up here http://worldgallery.dyndns.org/gallery Anyway, how can I get access behind the ropes this year. Im not a Ferrari owner, is that the only way, being an owner ?
The link doesn't work. If your an exhibitor, you're issued a name tag that is worn around the neck. People with this tag are the only ones that are supposed to be in the car area. Last year and the year before, I was on security patrol, as were off duty police officers. Virtually everyone I encountered with out an ID said they were with an exhibitor; either a private owner or a dealer. What was one to do? Even the police officers expressed their exasperation! Unfortunately, security is actually very light at this event.
Sorry link is back up, so the only way to get behind the gates is to be with an owner or dealer. ? I got behind the bars, last year after the cars started to leave. I loved the event, espacially since I was able to catch the players run at the Penninsula a little bit later and then crash for dinner at Rosebud with a yellow Murcielago and about 2-3 360's and a SRT/10 Viper with the meanest sounding exaust I have yet heard on a Viper.
Thanks for the comments, as for security, I don't think its much of a problem. I didn't go up to any cars and start sitting in them, I was just taking pictures and enjoying the show, exchanged a few words with the owner of the Black/Tan 512TR and then proceeded to watch the wrap up of the show. What was interesting is that I parked in the N.rush parking garage and there had to have been 3-4 Ferrari's parked on the 8th floor. A yellow 355 spyder, red 360, black 348 and a red 360CS (coverd with cover).
If you do go, just look for any of the boys from the 'Hood' that you know. Andreas, Dave B., Frank etc. I won't be there this year, as it's become a non-event to me. Drive downtown early in the morning; park on Oak St for the entire day, then everybody leaves. Not really very much fun! Yeah, we get a cocktail party the night before, and a free lunch the day of the event. Other than that, there's not much to it. Other than 'showing off our Wares!"
Yah I hear ya, I been to it once, its probley not going to change much car wise other then maybe a F430 here or there from last year. Its still a good excuse for me to go downtown and walk around, shop and eat and also enjoy the cars.
Only if you're displaying a car. And you have to be an FCA member to do so, as this is an FCA event in conjunction with the Oak Street Council. Don't worry about a pass though, when you see someone you know with a pass, just go into the coveted area with them. If anyone questions you , just tell them, 'I'm with him'.
I'm out in Barrington, and bringing my boxer, does anyone want to meet and drive down? I havent recieved anything in the mail yet, but im told we have to be there before 10:00
I'm a bit south of you and will be most likely heading down there with two others driving a 308 and 348. We could meet up if you'd like.
I live in West Dundee. I was in the show with my 308 but had to cancel as I have a grad party I "MUST" attend at 12:30p. I am going to drive down in my 308 park close and visit for a spell and leave at 12:00. I am not sure but giovanni of autosprint lives out our way and will be showing his cars and may want to go down together.
