Once again I changed my mind and am replacing the black one with a white one with more options. Then I going to see what I can do with it!

Going to try not to blow up too many transmissions this time

Every time I start thinking about this car, the 4,000 lb curb weight just kills it....also not thrilled about the old school automatic when the other competitors are sporting dual clutch

What are you not thrilled about with the automatic? I found that it performed flawlessly and did not notice any disadvantages compared to dual clutch transmissions on or off the track.
Reviewers generally had the same opinion about the transmission.

    Agreed.

    Paddle shifts are extremely swift.

    What didn't you like, Shark?

I am picking up car # 2 today (sometime this afternoon) in the color combination I originally wanted as well as the options. Cars are heavy these days the SL 63 weighs over 4100lbs and does not drive as well, nor feel as responsive, or look as good. My problem was that when I see a two seat car and think has to be a sports car, just not the case any more. People want luxury and electronics (I never would have thought those things mattered but I've gotten used to them so I like them) BMW 650 and Porsche 911's are supposed to be 2+2's but even my 12 year old cannot fit back there for very long anymore so they are essentially 2 seaters with more storage. In the end I let what I wished my life was get is the way I what my life is and for what my life is this car makes a great addition. This experience taught me a lesson I was happy to have learned.

A lot of this is about what I'm looking for on my next purchase

I want a thoroughly modern world class sports car

In 2016 IMO that isn't an old school auto...also true for corvette

A 3500 lb dual clutch F Type R would fit the bill....the current offering does not

But if the depreciation continues as is who knows....even with the warts a $50k R would be quite a value in a couple of years

2015 rear wheel drive R weights 3,638. Not a lightweight but not 4100.

From what reviewers and owners say, though, you can't get the power down on the non-awd version.

I've used a 2015 R as my DD for a bit over 2 years now. It will step out if the throttle is mashed and the steering wheel is other than straight but that liveliness if a big part of the fun of the car for me. I've not driven the awd so can't comment on how it changes the car but I still love my rwd - it's great looking and super value for the $.

That's why I'm holding out for a 6-speed manual with AWD.

I would have bought one by now if they offered it.

I love the F type but still think they've completely screwed up the model lineup in terms of engine/transmission/drivetrain offerings.

I owned my 2015 R for 1 year and 13,000 miles. Loved every mile and every minute. Ranks as my number 1 do everything car. I will likely get another one in the near future. Everything on it works so well together. It may not look right on paper, but driving it is amazing.

Well her she is I spent about 9 hours getting it cleaned (told dealer just rinse it off) up, has 9 miles now. Have kids so no driving it quite yet (no two seat cars work when they are with me). Since my Brittney picked of her car (the Mini Cooper S 4 door aka the brit mobile), I decided to call this one Maggie. Maggie is a 13lb Bichon/Poodle mix, but really loud and since she is white the car needed to be white too. See how a bizarre mind works. Already getting another steering wheel so I can get it remade the way I like and the drive by wire hesitation has to go (throttle controller coming). I'm sure there will be plenty more, my girlfriend says she will take once I get bored (I give it a few months max) and move on to my next thing.

Cool. What can you share about the steering wheel change?

I always buy a second steering wheel send it out to this guy in CA, he sends it to China and they make it thicker, nice soft leather and remove thumb grips (I like the steering wheel the exact same thickness all the way around).
