4. Sebastian Vettel - Red Bull - ?16M ($21.71M USD) - TheRichest Can anyone explain why Vettel is 4th? Maybe they need to break this out as 'Total Compensation of Lead Driver and Technical Director"? If Vettel makes it 5 in a row, maybe they'll pay him as much as the three ahead of him who haven't won a championship in >= 5 years.
I wouldn't place too much stock in this article. They could benefit from the services of a competent fact checker in many instances. Webber moved from Jaguar to Red Bull...? Schumacher came out of retirement to replace the injured Massa...? Not exactly a source you should treat as gospel. But even if their base salary numbers are on the mark, salary is only the beginning of the story. Every contract has "variable compensation" or "performance bonus" clauses built in.
True. It also depends on where they are in multi year contracts. What was top of the field money two years ago isn't now. What would be interesting is to know which drivers are paying the most to drive. Those amounts are far greater.
I never understand what's the hype about the salaries. They all earn in different ways. I believe Fred is the highest earner, with Ferrari, Santander and Marlboro bankrolling him.
Vettel's base seems quite ''low'' (for a 4x wdc) but he gets paid pretty decently for points. Agree with the rest, these lists are pointless, especially by a website that has no grasp on F1 whatsoever, and can't even be bothered to fact check some of their stuff with a 2 second google stint...
Prob someone in Southeast Asia. Sites like this farm out their writing so they can keep things being posted regularly.
Exactly-happens in all sports-kind of like how in one start Tim Wakefield made as much as pedrioa did in all of 2007 in a World Series yr! That said I've always been a Wakefield fan and hey Petey is making a little more now
