You certainly pay the price for finishing high up but if you've a good car to start with, then with little or no change for 2025 you should be able to continue the momentum.

    This of course doesn't include:

    1) Pirelli tire testing
    2) Filming by team
    3) Rookie testing

This opens the floodgates to test just about anything on the car without incurring penalties.

FIA announces 2025 F1 rule changes
Driver cooling and DRS use subject to rule tweaks for 2025 F1 season

The FIA has unveiled a series of tweaks to the 2025 Formula 1 regulations governing driver cooling and the application of DRS, and has also revealed revised regulations for 2026.

Following the FIA's World Motor Sport Council in Rwanda, the expected inclusion of driver cooling - denoted by new "heat hazard" regulations when temperatures at races exceed a certain level - has been ratified along with more stringent rules for DRS.

The new rules dictate that, once the FIA's official weather radars predict temperatures over 30.5C (or when called by the race director prior to an event, a 'heat hazard' will be declared.

This will require the teams to equip the drivers with their cooling systems, and the minimum weight will be raised to 5kg as a result for the full weekend to compensate for the increased mass of driver equipment.

Furthermore, the slot gaps for the rear wing between the two modes of the DRS have been changed, with the minimum gap reduced presumably to cover off any attempts to replicate the "mini-DRS" trick used by McLaren in 2024.

This was a solution where the wing slot gap opened marginally on the straights to reduce drag, most notably seen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on the rear wing of the two MCL38 cars.

The minimum gap has shrunk from 10-15mm to 9.4-13mm and, with DRS open, the upper boundary remains at 85mm. The FIA has also tightened up the rules on the DRS modes, stating that there must only be two positions - and that ending the application of DRS must return the wing exactly as defined to the initial mode.

TAG Heuer will take the wheel to become Formula 1's official timekeeper again starting in 2025, marking the end of the sport's partnership with Rolex, which has held the role since 2013.

    Flexi-wings have been a red herring in 2024 !!

Kudos to the teams who can design wings that are not flexing under static tests, but flex under aerodynamic load at speed.

They've been around since 2014. I don't know what the big deal is with regards to front wings flexing under load at speed.

Dirty Air and Tyres. Somethings never really change lol.

The decline that threatens F1 2025's huge potential
It is the ever-increasing dirty air problem that is limiting the prospects for good racing.

Time and again over the closing stages of last year drivers would complain about an inability to properly be able to follow each other, with the current ground effect cars having evolved well away from the good intentions rulemakers originally had for them.
Having started this current rules era in 2022 allowing drivers to follow each much closer than before, that gain has, in the words of the FIA’s single-seater director Nikolas Tombazis "deteriorated" quite a bit.

And if cars cannot follow each other closely – either because they lose downforce or the tyres overheat – then that is not a good catalyst for exciting wheel-to-wheel battles.

At least it has one of the biggest growth rates in Africa and tourism is their biggest way of income, so it´s not difficult to follow the dots: it´s about making a tourist trap.

Derek Chang Named CEO of Liberty Media
The exec has held leadership roles at companies including EverPass Media, the NBA and more.

“I have had the privilege of working with John Malone and the Liberty team for many years during my time at TCI and DIRECTV and later as a board member of Starz and Liberty, and I have long admired their track record of value creation for investors and partners,” Chang said. “Our current focus is clear: optimizing the portfolio structure with the split-off of Liberty Live and supporting the growth of our attractive operating assets, including F1 and MotoGP post-acquisition, to continue their momentum and invest for the future. Looking further, Liberty has always been long-term minded in its investment mandate yet nimble to move quickly on new opportunities. Both of these things will remain true in our strategy going forward.”

To think that Miami will remain in the schedule instead of Spa is incomprehensible to me.

Looks like I’ll have to put together a trip there before they do away with it entirely.

Williams have confirmed that the FW47 will be launched at Silverstone on Valentine's Day 14 Feb 2025.

The event could be Carlos Sainz's first official media appearance as a Williams driver, following his switch from Ferrari after being replaced by Lewis Hamilton.

Want to fix it:: have a test where cars drive through a narrow tunnel at 200 MPH and have the tunnel measure how much wind blows off the car perpendicular to the direction of travel. Set the acceptable number to 1 PSI.
