Speedometer sender? The one on the transaxle? No reset needed, just swap and plug in.

What is the purpose of the Cam Speed/position Sensor p/n 162916?
Seems to me that the wasted spark system would not be needed if the ECU knew the position of the cam (after the intake valve has closed as opposed to knowing when the exhaust valve closed). The combination of inputs from the crank sensor and the signal from the cam sensor that rotates at 1/2 the speed of the crank could provide the correct spark sequence/timing but Ferrari preferred to overwork the ignition system.
So, I ask again, what is the purpose of the Cam Position Sensor?
What does the ECU do with this input?
