If it's going to be another one of those flat infield "slot car" tracks, forget it.

I grew up in Alabama. My mother still lives there. I took Mrs Dubai for a visit two years ago. There is nothing there. No offense to anyone who lives there, but while it might be a decent place to live, it is an absolute black hole for visitors. Mobile has as much chance of getting an F1 race as Fairbanks Alaska. In December.

I can't see any way a road course in Mobile would be a paying proposition, on any terms.

you'll see f1 on the moon before mobile. that said it would be nice to see champ series, alms or any road racing event on an imaginative track layout.

Bernie is determined to keep a GP in the States, so if Indy gets' cold feet', he will take anything onboard.
I would have thought that some tracks are suitable (Laguna Seca for one), but maybe they are not interested.

Whereever a US Grand Prix will be held, it will be someplace where there is international access, and plenty of hotel rooms. Not gonna be Mobile, nor Laguna Seca.

I believe that USGP #1 will remain in Indianapolis, the City and State governments of Indianapolis and Indiana respectively, will help offset costs. The F1 spectator spends more money in downtown Indianapolis than the Indy 500 and NASCAR fan combined.

A second USGP may happen in some place like Las Vegas, or a new course in California or Florida, at any rate a substantial distance from Indianapolis. But with the addition of Mexico, Russia, etc. to the F1 calendar, I also believe you will only see one GP per country after 2008.

The track would have to be nothing short of spectacular.
