I'm sorry if someone has asked this question before, but I would like to know the average life expectancy of an F1 Clutch from a 360. Take into consideration that I do not take my Ferrari to the track. Also, what are your recommendations regarding the care of the F1 Transmission?

    Thanks

    Alfredo

    Hello Alfredo, welcome to F-Chat.

Yes, your question is frequently asked. I took your thread title and put it into the "Search" function and got 161 threads with the words in your thread title.

Here are two threads to get you started:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70077&highlight=F1+Clutch+life

Besides clutch wear, F1 systems include the electronic and hydraulic mechanisms that need to be taken into consideration. Again, the three words you picked will yield the threads necessary to educate yourself on the subject.

Good luck. The 360 is a great car.

General consensus among knowledgeable technicians and drivers seems to be that main factors in F1 clutch life are (1) proper installation & adjustment and (2) proper driving technique. With improper installation and/or careless technique, as little as 1-2K miles has been reported. When installed, adjusted and driven correctly, 360 F1 clutch life in excess of 75K miles has been reported (all with strictly OEM parts and settings).

My own personal experience bears this out (at least so far). I had all new OEM clutch & parts installed by a dealer approximately 3 years ago and check it whenever I go in for service. Most recent check showed 7-8% wear at over 20K miles. There was a major TCU upgrade for MY'02 (mine is an '02) so mileage may not be quite as good with MY'99-MY'01 cars.

Nizam is right that this topic is frequently discussed and lots of good advice is available around here. Unfortunately, lots of misinformation and bad advice is available as well so be careful. As Nizam also said, it's a great car so best of luck!
